I. NATURAL HERITAGE
Definition:
 Natural heritage refers to natural features, geological and
physiographical formations and delineated areas that constitute the
habitat of threatened species of animals and plants and natural sites of
value from the point of view of science, conservation or natural beauty.
It includes private and publically protected natural areas, zoos, aquaria
and botanical gardens, natural habitat, marine ecosystems,
sanctuaries, reservoirs etc.
Example:
-Ha Long Bay: a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its limestone karsts,
caves, and rich marine biodiversity.
-Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park: home to the world's largest cave, Son
Doong)
-Ba Be National Park: famous for its lakes and mountains
These sites are vital for conservation, tourism, and ecological balance.
● Cultural heritage refers to the legacy of tangible artifacts and
intangible attributes of a group, organization, or society that have been
inherited from past generations, preserved in the present, and passed
on to future generations. It includes cultural property, intangible
culture, consists of traditions, customs, languages, performing arts,
rituals, and knowledge passed down through generations.
o Examples: Vietnamese water puppetry, the art of Xoan singing, and
the Giong Festival
II. Importance of heritage
1. Preserving Cultural Identity
• Heritage reflects the unique culture, traditions, and way of life of a
community or nation. It tells the story, the values and beliefs of a country
that help them maintain their distinct identity.
• By preserving heritage, future generations can learn about their history,
feel proud of their cultural and continue the important traditions that
define their community

customs, and traditions. It helps people understand how societies have
evolved over time and how past experiences shape the present.
• It also plays a key role in teaching younger generations about important
cultural values, encouraging them to respect, preserve, and develop these

• Heritage is an important resource for tourism, as historical sites,
traditional festivals, and cultural landmarks attract visitors from around
the world. This helps promote a country’s culture globally.

vulnerable ecosystems.
