Unsystematic risk is risk that is specific to an individual organization and can be controlled by that organization. It includes business risk, financial risk, and operational risk. Business risk includes asset liquidity risk and funding liquidity risk. Financial risk includes exchange rate risk, recovery rate risk, credit event risk, non-directional risk, sovereign risk, and settlement risk. Operational risk includes model risk, people risk, legal risk, and political risk. An organization should categorize risks as either systematic, outside its control, or unsystematic, which can be mitigated through proper planning.
