Vertebral column and pygostyle
The vertebral column of chickens consists of the atlas, cervical vertebrae, dorsal vertebrae, synsacrum, caudals, and pygostyle. Key features include the atlas being the first vertebra, 11-25 cervical vertebrae, uncinate processes being extensions of rib bones that project caudally.
