The case study will examine the conventions, representations, ideologies, and messages in video games, as well as how audience models can be applied to understanding video games. It includes discussion questions about video game genres, conventions, why people play video games, and how the uses and gratifications model applies to the popular video game Grand Theft Auto IV. It also summarizes the banning of the video game Manhunt 2 in the UK due to its focus on violence.
