Intent to Contribute Statement:
Use of the Watson Caritas Patient Scoring tool to assess patient perspective on compassionate care, respect for
personal beliefs, and caring-healing environment.
On February 21 we are beginning a journey to "Reignite the Passion" for Nursing at our medical center. During
this session information will presented on Caring Science and a Caring project for each month will be developed
for all units in the Medical Center. After the first project is completed, patients will be interviewed using the
Watson Caritas Patient Scoring tool (permission obtained from Dr. Watson) and action plans will be created
around our results. By June we should have data for March and April. The poster board will demonstrate our
specific actions on the units with correlating results. This work will take place in both the adult hospital and in
Women's & Children's.
Evaluation of the Patient Perspective as it relates to the following:
 Deliver my Care with Compassion and Kindness
 Meet my Basic Needs
 Respect my Personal Belief and Faith, Allowing for Hope
 Create a Caring Environment that Allows me to Heal
