in exciting multiple ways.
Moodle can be used to supplement on ground courses or
can be used to host completely online courses.

Moodle is the University’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Moodle is a web platform designed specifically to support the delivery
of teaching and learning materials and activities.
The VLE consists of a number of tools, and integrates with other
learning systems.
Moodle is the biggest open source VLE – under continual development

HOW IT CAN BE USED ?
To use the various aspects of Moodle, first of all the course developer
need to download the Moodle package available on moodle.org.
After that the package has to be uploaded to the web page designed for
the course.
This changes the whole outlook of the webpage.
The webpage will now look like an application program like MS Office
with tool bars and fields for entering data.
Various tools can be used to create an interactive website targeted for
online course.

papers/projects submitted by earlier students to the
institute (or teacher) can also be published and made
available to the students undergoing the course.
As these students are registered through the site they
may be allowed to read and study these materials at their
own benefit.
DISCUSSION ON THE COURSE CONCEPTS
A chat window or a discussion section can be introduced to
discuss the topic or course discussed on the site.
Where, both the teacher and the student can interact freely
among themselves to create a discussion environment.
Also, the students themselves may be able to interact
among themselves through this section.
FORUM RELATING TO THE COURSE
Just like a discussion section a forum can
be created where, frequently asked
questions can be included to minimise the
time consumption of the teacher and
some students which can be saved from
joining in the discussion of the FAQ
topics.
CONDUCTION OF QUIZZES
 Create all the familiar forms of assessment including:
True-false,
 Multiple choice,
 Short answer,
 Matching question,
 Random questions,
 Numerical questions
DISTRIBUTION, COLLECTION AND
EVALUATION OF ASSIGNMENTS
• Under different activities one of the activities that can be organised by
the teachers is distribution of assignments to the students.
• This can be done by selecting activities and the choosing assignments.
• Then a teacher can create an assignment of a course for the students.
• Then, the teacher can inform the students about the assignment
through the e-mail.
• After that the students can access the assignment through the site and
then submit their assignment for the course.
KEEPING TRACK OF CLASS ATTENDANCE
As moodle provides an online
active participation of the course
by the teacher, a class attendance
can be kept for the students who
have participate in the course.
RECORDING OF GRADES
Similar to keeping track of
attendance of the students, the
teacher can accumulate and keep
track of the grades provided by
him to each student through
tests, quizzes and assignments by
using the database of the site.
CONCLUSION
To sum it all up, Moodle is the best Online Learning
Management System available at this time, and is very
easy to use for creating an online course.
It can be used for many of the various activities for
providing a very interactive and composite form of a course
that can be provided online (i.e. through internet).
