The North Eastern Region is the easternmost region of India representing
both geographical and political administrative division of the country comprising

kilometres, almost 8 percent of that of India.

Reserves in the Northeast are made up

They are home to many mammals, but
the pride of place belongs to the great
Indian rhinoceros in Kaziranga National

At present, the northeast region of India have 77 National parks and wildlife
Sanctuaries, all rich in both flora and fauna and home to many endangered
animal species.
ARUNACHAL PRADESH:
Arunachal Pradesh is a perfect
destination for a wildlife
enthusiast as there are
several naturally well endowed
sanctuaries as well as national parks.
Arunachal Pradesh proudly enjoys the
distinction of having the big four cats
namely tiger, leopard, clouded leopard and
snow leopard in its jungles.

Namdapha National Park:
Namdapha National Park is perhaps one
of the most diverse ecosystems in the Indian
Subcontinents. The park is mostly covered
with large mountains and a number of water
bodies that sustains the wildlife of the park.
This park is ideal for a birding trip. The
location and climate of Namdapha suits a
wide variety of birds like Satyr Tragopan,
Kalij and Monal Pheasants and Giant
Hornbill.
It is however the big four – Tiger, Leopard,
Clouded leopard and snow leopard, which
steals the show in the park.
MANIPUR:
The state of Manipur is bestowed with
lush green vegetations, deep forests
and rich animal resources that seek the
attention of tourists.
Many of the species of animals found
here are endemic, foremost
among them being the Sangai or the
Brow Antlered Deer.
The only ape found in India, the Hoolock
Gibbon commonly occurs in all the five hill
districts of Manipur.
Similarly, the Slow Loris, the Stump Tailed
Macaque, the Pig-Tailed Macaque are the
other rare primates that occur in the

Keibul Lamjao National Park is bestowed

Loktak lake, the largest freshwater lake in
India.
MIZORAM:

Orchids are abundant in Mizoram and
the forest of Mizoram is inhabited by
swamp deer, tiger and leopards.

Phawngpui National Park
Phawngpui National Park, often called as the
Blue Mountain of Mizoram is at most times
covered by a thin stretch of clouds, which
making it appear blue from a distance.
It is a natural home of a wonderful range of
birdlife including the rare Blyth’s tragopan,
Falcon, and Mrs. Humes Pheasant.
Also, rare animals like the mountain goat,
Slow loris, leopard and clouded leopard
are found here.
SIKKIM:
The state’s thick dense forest give
secured shelter to various flora and
fauna which includes many
endangered species. Hence considered
an ideal destination for wildlife
holidays.
Yaks are quite prominent and spottable
here. Also, barking deer, snow leopard
and red panda are common animals
found.
Sikkim’s land also has abundant birdlife
with more than 550 species constituting
around 30% of all the birds found in the
Indian sub-continents.
Thus, Sikkim became a hotspot for bird

National Park as well as a Biosphere reserve.
It was inscribed to the UNESCO World

including snow leopard, Himalayan black
bear, Himalayan tahr and Asiatic wild dog
which is believed to belong to the rare and
genetically distinct subspecies.
TRIPURA:
Tripura is an abode to many animals,
