This document introduces a writer's notebook as a place for students to freely write, experiment with different writing styles, reflect on their writing, and get their thoughts down on paper. It recommends including life experiences, lists, drawings, questions, and anything imaginable. The notebook is meant as a low-stakes place for students to practice writing and develop as writers over time by revisiting old entries. Guidelines are provided such as dating entries, leaving space for later additions, and not erasing to track writing progress. The goal is for the notebook to reflect each individual student.
