Yellow vein mosaic of bhendi is a viral disease caused by begomovirus, first identified in 1924, significantly impacting bhendi production with severe yield loss if infection occurs within 20 days of germination. Symptoms include yellowing of leaf veins, stunted growth, and smaller fruit size, with transmission primarily via whiteflies. Control measures include using resistant varieties, virus-free seedlings, crop rotation, and applying insecticides.
