Zinc sulfate is a colorless, water-soluble chemical compound that can be prepared by reacting zinc with sulfuric acid or by adding zinc to a copper sulfate solution. It is used to supply zinc in animal feeds, fertilizers, agricultural sprays, making lithopone, in rayon production, for zinc plating electrolytes, as a dye mordant, and in medicine. A zinc sulfate solution can remove moss from roofs by allowing wind to blow away debris, but should not be used on lawns as it also removes grass. It has also been used to deceivesome medical drug examinations.
