We are excited to begin planning our 48th Annual Meeting, scheduled for May 27–29, 2026, in Chula Vista, California. Proposal submissions for Educational Sessions, Industry Breakouts, Posters, and 5-minute Industry Previews are now open!
With cuts in funding to medical and scientific research; distrust in academia, once-revered institutions, and expertise in general; shrinking academic library budgets; massive growth in proposals and publications; the effects of AI on content creation; continuing strains on the peer review process; and an uncertain (to put it mildly) political environment, our industry is in the midst of serious upheaval.
The 2026 SSP Annual Meeting invites us to navigate a paradox: how to adapt and innovate in turbulent times while staying true to the mission of integrity at the heart of scholarly communication.
What can we do as a community to maintain our faith and stand firm in these unsettled times? How can we adhere to our core values while adapting to the ever-changing landscape? There are many unknowns, but one thing we do know is that by publishing and disseminating critical information and spreading knowledge, we serve an essential function to humanity at large.
We invite academics, funders, librarians, publishers, service providers, technologists, researchers, and all those with a shared interest and stake in disseminating scholarly information to submit proposals covering a diverse range of scholarly publishing topics, from STEM to the humanities and beyond. We are proud to use Ex Ordo for proposal submissions and thank them for their continued support and sponsorship of SSP’s submission system!
Four submission options are available: Educational Sessions, Industry Breakouts, Posters, and 5-minute Industry Previews. Learn more on our Submissions Guidelines page. Submission deadlines are as follows:
- Educational Sessions – November 3, 2025
- Industry Breakout Session – January 30, 2026
- Educational Posters – February 13, 2026
- 5-minute Industry Previews – February 13, 2026
We thank the Annual Meeting Program Committee Co-Chairs, Jessie Slater, Greg Fagan, and Marianne Calihanna, for their hard work.
Industry partners are invited to showcase their organization at the SSP Annual Meeting by contacting partnerships@sspnet.org. This dynamic event will allow exhibitors and sponsors to present sessions, network with attendees, build brand awareness, and more!
