Vought Rising at a glance:
- Work on the set has already kicked off
- The series is set in the 1950s
- Amazon has presented the first photos of the supes
Although Gen V season 2 is now over, another spin-off of The Boys, Vought Rising, is already on the horizon, and we have the latest casting news and the first photos from the new series.
The first spin-off for The Boys, Gen V, introduced viewers to a young generation of supes attending Vought-sponsored Godolkin University. However, the new series from the diabolical universe will show an older generation of superheroes operating decades before the era of Homelander and The Seven.
Eric Kripke created Vought Rising, but the showrunner is Paul Grellong, one of the executive producers of The Boys. After a long period of silence, we’re starting to learn more about the show.
When will Vought Rising be released?
Currently, there’s no word about Vought Rising’s potential release date, however we do know that the project is in the production.
The Boys season 6 is estimated to be released around summer 2026, and wrapped filming in June 2026. Therefore, if production takes the same amount of time and filming is completed this year, there is a chance that Vought Rising could arrive later in 2026.
If filming spills over to next year, then 2027 is a more likely release year.
What will the plot of Vought Rising be?
The new series will serve as a prequel to The Boys and be centred around Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles. The events will be set in 1950s, in the glory days of this superhero.
As Eric Kripke and Paul Grellong said in a statement:
We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.
Soldier Boy was the first and the most powerful Vought supe. Active mainly in the Cold War era, he led the superhero squad called Payback. He went missing after the military operation in Nicaragua and was found by Butcher and his team in The Boys season 3.
Similiar to Homelander, he publically appeared as the perfect American hero, noble and brave. In fact, he was aggressive, narcissistic, and dangerous, which ultimately led to his downfall.
Soldier Boy made a small cameo at the end of The Boys season 4, teasing the supe’s return in the show’s final season.
Another character who will be back in Vought Rising will be the infamous Stormfront, aka Klara Risinger. The superhero appeared in The Boys season 2 as the new member of The Seven. She quickly gained a group of fans due to her white supremacy views and strong presence on social media channels. First, she was the Homelander’s rival, then became his lover and an ally.
It was later revealed that Stormfront, born in Germany in 1919, was a supporter of the Nazi Party and the wife of the scientist Frederick Vought, inventor of Compound V. She decided to take a shot of the substance and became the first known superhero.
At the end of War World II, Frederick and Klara immigrated to the US, where the supe operated under the alias of Liberty. At some point she met a Soldier Boy and established a partnership with him – the secret superhero gathering, called Herogasm, was their invention.
Thanks to Vought Rising, we’ll learn more about Stormfront and Soldier Boy’s past and relationship.
