Environmental Performance Review: Armenia
Second Review
The present publication contains the second EPR of Armenia. It takes stock of progress made by Armenia in the management of its environment since it was reviewed for the second time in 2011. It covers legal and policy frameworks and environmental compliance assurance mechanisms and addresses the topics of greening the economy environmental monitoring public participation and education. Furthermore it addresses issues of specific importance to the country related to air protection biodiversity and protected areas soil conservation and water waste and chemicals management. It also examines the efforts of the country to integrate environmental considerations into its policies in the agriculture energy industry transport and health sectors. It includes a substantive analysis of the country’s participation in and commitments to international environmental agreements as well as its climate change adaptation and mitigation measures. It includes an assessment of relevant targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and provides recommendations related to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. The publication is aimed at officials and experts working for public authorities responsible for environmental policy representatives of civil society the business community academia and the media.

It includes a substantive analysis of the country’s participation in and commitments to international agreements as well as its climate change adaptation and mitigation measures. Furthermore the EPR addresses issues of specific importance to Romania related to air protection water management waste and chemicals management and biodiversity and protected areas. Finally the review includes in all chapters an assessment of relevant targets of the Agenda 2030 as well as recommendations related to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The publication is aimed at officials and experts working for public authorities responsible for environmental policy representatives of civil society the business community academia and the media. The Environmental Performance Review (EPR) Programme is an important instrument for countries with economies in transition. Third-cycle EPRs focus on environmental governance and financing in a green economy context countries’ cooperation with the international community and environmental mainstreaming in priority sectors. Through the peer review process EPRs also promote dialogue among ECE member countries and harmonization of environmental conditions and policies throughout the region.

Environmental Performance Reviews: Morocco
The present publication contains the Environmental Performance Review of Morocco. This report also covers 13 issues of importance to the country related to policymaking planning and implementation the financing of environmental policies and projects and the integration of environmental concerns into economic sectors in particular agriculture energy health industry biodiversity and protected areas water and waste management. The Morocco review was notable as it is the first country outside of the region to request an EPR from ECE and the process was undertaken in cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).
