One Health
One Health is a collaborative, cross-disciplinary approach that recognizes the vital interconnections between people, animals, plants, and their shared environment. UNIC Health embraces this integrated approach at local, regional, and global levels to achieve optimal health outcomes and address today’s complex health challenges.

Linking Human, Animal and Environmental Health
In today’s interconnected world, diseases can spread further and faster than ever before. A health threat anywhere can be a health threat everywhere. World organisations like the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) are working together to mainstream One Health so that they are better prepared to prevent, predict, detect, and respond to global health threats.

Academic Ecosystem
The close synergies between the Medical School, the School of Veterinary Medicine, and the School of Life and Health Sciences at the University of Nicosia create an ideal academic ecosystem for delivering a well-rounded education in health sciences. Our objective is to provide students with inter-professional learning opportunities, fostering collaboration across disciplines to achieve a shared goal: improving health outcomes for individuals and communities.

One Health Research Strategy
The One Health Research Strategy at UNIC Health addresses complex health challenges by integrating human, animal, and environmental health. Focusing on zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and environmental health impacts, this strategy fosters collaboration with research institutions and healthcare organizations to deliver sustainable, evidence-based solutions. This approach equips researchers and students to tackle today’s interconnected health issues and drive global progress.
