Lecture by Jan van Zwieten as part of Andriy Krysovatyy's project ‘Public Finance Studies’
WUNU hosted a discussion with Jan van Zwieten, Rector of the Netherlands Business Academy and member of the Supervisory Board of West Ukrainian National University. The event served as a platform for discussing contemporary views on leadership, personal development, and the role of education in shaping the future of young people.
The event was opened by Andriy Krysovatyy, Chairman of the Academic Council of WUNU, who emphasised that the scientific community must join forces to develop the future generation. He stressed that such meetings help students broaden their worldview, develop leadership qualities and gain new knowledge from international experts. Prof. Krysovatyy called on students to be open to communication, ask questions and listen to interesting opinions on the global financial order.
During the lecture, Jan van Zwieten shared his experience of developing education in the Netherlands, noting that although the country is small in terms of territory and population, it is one of the world's leading economies thanks to the effective use of resources and human potential. He spoke about the Dutch education system and focused on the importance of practical thinking and entrepreneurial culture.
During his presentation, the lecturer drew attention to the concept of leadership, emphasising that a true manager must harmoniously combine intellectual, physical and emotional development. In his opinion, a person's success depends not only on their level of knowledge, but also on their ability to manage their own energy, maintain physical endurance and be able to cooperate with others.
Jan van Zwieten also shared his observations on the modern labour market, noting that employee performance often declines due to lack of rest, excessive fatigue and emotional burnout. He urged students to maintain a balance between their studies, work and personal lives, as it is emotional stability and communication skills that determine each person's leadership potential.
