About us

Inspired by Cape Town, our love for adventure, and our mission to protect the outdoors - Sealand is a lifestyle brand that focuses on responsibly made gear and apparel. Our mission is to ensure that every decision we make keeps the planet and its people front and centre. With this in mind, all of our bags and apparel are made from waste or responsibly and ethically sourced materials. The structural waste or meticulously sourced material is then combined with high-quality hardware, innovative design, and expert craftsmanship to create gear that will last a lifetime. Our upcycled and responsibly sourced materials are sturdy and weather resistant, making them perfect for any adventure. Sealand forms part of the vibrant South African community and environment around it, while dedicating itself to profound social and environmental impact. We aspire to always play our part for the planet and its people. Our team embodies the Sealand brand. This crew combines passions for business, the outdoors, and design. The expert craftspeople that make our gear form the backbone of the brand. Amongst our family there are endurance runners, surfers, avid hikers, and ingenious personalities. The ultimate aspiration of the Sealand lifestyle is to do one's part by being responsible, while considering the piece of the planet that one has a direct impact on. Sealand strives to be a brand that invests in change and when you support Sealand you are investing in that change too. Inspired by nature, made from waste.

  • At Sealand, we love seeing great brands come together for good 🌍 Our friends at Protect Our Paths Foundation have teamed up with Jack Black Brewing Company for Pints for a Purpose - an initiative that supports local non-profits driving real impact for people and the planet. Protect Our Paths has been chosen as the beneficiary for October and November, with all proceeds from the designated tap at Jack Black's Taproom (in Diep River, Cape Town) going directly toward keeping our beaches, trails and mountains clean. It's simple - grab a pint, and every sip helps protect the paths we all love. 🍻 Drink beer. Save nature. It seems easy enough! We'll raise a glass to that 💚 #SealandGear #ProtectOurPaths #JackBlackBrewing #PintsForAPurpose #Sustainability #Community #ProtectWhatYouLove Skybound Capital Group Tim Coles Dante Bossi Adrian Hewlett Howie Kahn

Pint for a Purpose X Protect Our Paths. We're stoked to announce that Protect Our Paths have partnered with the Jack Black Brewing Company! This initiative sees Jack Black partnering with local non-profit organizations that do great work, at a grassroots level, for people and the planet 🌍 Protect Our Paths Foundation is proud to have been selected as the beneficiary for October and November, creating a shared campaign to generate both funds and awareness. Here’s how it works: grab a pint from the designated tap at Jack Black’s Taproom, purchase your beer and 100% of the proceeds go straight to Protect Our Paths. That means every sip is helping keep our beaches, trails and mountains clean - cared for by the amazing custodians stewarding our natural spaces. It’s simple and eye-wateringly appealing: drink beer, save nature. So next time you’re at the Jack Black Taproom, don't deliberate and order the beer that gives back. Together, we’ll raise our glasses to a cleaner, greener future. Cheers to Pints for a Purpose, and cheers to helping us Protect Our Paths!💚

  • Sealand is over the moon to be a part of a community that makes a difference, and all the more happy to get recognition from Africa's leading retail precinct. For the second year in a row, we walked off with the Sustainability Award (powered by Better Nature) at the V&A Waterfront Tenant Awards... and we could not be prouder! This award celebrates the business with the strongest sustainability credentials in the entire V&A precinct, and we're so proud that - amongst others - our Second Wave program at the Sealand Waterfront store has been recognised for the impact it's making. A huge thanks again to our whole team for making all of our initiatives a pleasure to implement and a success to run. And of course, to our loyal and ever-expanding customer base - an even bigger thank you. 🚀 🌊 🫶 Adrian Hewlett Jasper Eales Tim Coles

South Africa is a land of contrasts - stunning natural spaces with severe waste issues, eager workers but a dearth of opportunity, and corporate funding searching for real impact. Founded by Sealand and Skybound Capital Group, the Protect Our Paths Foundation bridges these divides by empowering underprivileged individuals to become custodians of our natural spaces. These custodians remove waste, educate the public on recycling and conservation, and play a vital role in maintaining shared environments. We provide training, funding, and equipment while facilitating donations and partnerships to ensure long-term impact. With your support, we can continue to uplift people, protect our natural playgrounds, and create a cleaner, more connected future. This Foundation was inspired by the Sealand partnership with Keith Kleans, a previously unemployed custodian who was doing great work keeping Saunders Beach clean. We found ways to support him and facilitate greater donations, and decided to scale this across a number of locations. The decision was made to set up the POP Foundation as a separate entity to be able to enter into agreements and hold separate funding relationships independently of Sealand, providing us with a vehicle dedicated to one job and one job only - waste management and upliftment in these areas. We currently have seven custodians across Saunders (Shaun), Queens (Keith), Cecilia Forest (Billy, Chris & Nazer) and Hout Bay Beach (David). Protect Our Paths Foundation is a registered Environmental Partner of the 1% For The Planet network and is in the process of acquiring PBO status in South Africa. Future partnerships are being explored, including MOUs with SANParks and CoCT to work safely within these spaces. Our aim is to support communities utilising all the spaces we enjoy as outdoorspeople within our incredible home city - and then expand this to the rest of our country. With your help, and our continued support for our custodians, we can keep our spaces beautiful, safe and pristine. With your help, we can Protect Our Paths!
