The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Sri Lanka (CPA Sri Lanka) and the Asia Pacific Institute of Business Analytics (APIBA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at CPA House, Colombo, to strengthen accounting and finance professional education and develop future-ready professionals for Sri Lanka’s corporate and financial sectors.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Senior Professor Harendra Dissabandara, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, who attended as Guest of Honour. The event was led by CPA Sri Lanka Chairman Daya Jayasinghe and APIBA Founder Chairman Chandika Witharana, with participation from CPA Council members, academics, senior professionals, and industry representatives.

Under the agreement, APIBA has been appointed as the exclusive authorised lecturing partner for CPA learning pathways and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes. All programmes will operate under the academic oversight, quality assurance, and certification authority of CPA Sri Lanka, with a focus on strengthening professional competence, ethical standards, and career readiness.

Academic perspectives were shared by Professor Janaka Fernando and Professor Prathap Kaluthanthri of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, who highlighted the importance of aligning accounting and finance education with evolving industry needs, including corporate governance, analytics, and digital transformation.

Technology support for the partnership will be provided by X365 International Solutions, enabling secure digital learning platforms, analytics-driven academic management, and scalable modern education infrastructure for CPA Sri Lanka programmes.

Addressing the gathering, Jayasinghe and Witharana said the collaboration aims to produce accounting and finance professionals who are technically skilled, ethically grounded, globally competitive, and prepared for leadership roles.

The CPA–APIBA partnership represents a long-term commitment to strengthening Sri Lanka’s professional talent pipeline, supporting improved corporate governance, financial discipline, and national economic resilience.
