Connecting with students is one of my favorite parts of being a children’s book author and illustrator. My school assembly visits are best suited for K-3. See below for a range of options. I’m always happy to discuss other ideas for your school interests.

Assembly Presentation:

During an assembly, students will get the inside scoop on how a book is made from the first idea to sketch, revision, and illustration. In a fun, collaborative talk, I emphasize persistence, teamwork, and trying new things. We will read a picture book, with student involvement, and have time for Q&A. I end the assembly with a creative drawing game so everyone leaves feeling creative and excited about the power of their own imagination and ideas.

K-2 Comic Workshops:

Meant for small groups, this workshop begins with an interactive talk about opposites: what are they, and how are they used in stories? Students will break out to draw their own pair of opposites. After a brief sharing time, we will pick one pair to collaborate on. I will draw their ideas into a 3 panel comic story. This workshop works well as part of a full day or multi-day visit, allowing students to observe the work of other classes.

K-4 Themed Drawing Workshops:

I offer hands-on, guided workshops themed around magical creatures, dinosaurs, cute animals, or tidepool creatures. These are great for students of all skill levels: scalable for a challenge, but accessible to those who prefer instruction and clear steps. Optional: a short presentation showing my process from start to finish on a magazine assignment.

Collage Workshops:

In a guided workshop, students will use colorful painted papers, scissors, and glue to create animal art pieces. Best for students from 1st-3rd grade (scissor skills necessary). If time allows, students can create their own painted papers. Emphasis is placed on taking time to play with shape, pattern, and value.

2026-2027 Fees

Full Day: $1000 for 3-4 presentations or workshops, book signing, and lunch with a small student group.
Half Day: $600 for 1 assembly and book signing.
Public Library Visit: $350 for 1 presentation or workshop, book signing.
Virtual Full Day: $500 for 3-4 presentations and a book signing.
Virtual Half Day: $300 for one presentation and a book signing.

In-person rates are for visits within 90 miles. I am located in North Hampton, NH.
Additional info for longer travel can be provided upon request.
When booking multiple-day visits, additional days are 50% of the first full day rate.

I am comfortable presenting on whatever platform your school uses: Google Meet, Zoom, etc.

I am also a speaker with CLiF. They are a non-profit foundation that provides grants for author visits and books for towns throughout NH and VT.
