We promote a culture of risk prevention to improve working conditions in Europe.
About us
Our mission is to make Europe's workplaces safer, healthier and more productive. We do this by bringing together and sharing knowledge and information, to promote a culture of risk prevention. Located in Bilbao, Spain, we have a dedicated staff of occupational safety and health (OSH), communication and administrative specialists. At the national level, we are represented through a network of focal points, which are usually the lead OSH bodies in the individual Member States. The Agency is a tripartite organisation, this means that we work with governments, employers and workers representatives. We are a single reference point for OSH information. We commission, collect and publish new scientific research and statistics on OSH risks. ⚖️ Although gender equality is a fundamental principle of European labour and social policy, gender disparities persist in working conditions and in exposure to psychosocial risks (PSRs). Men and women may face different, or more pronounced, psychosocial risk factors and may also be affected differently when exposed to the same risks. This issue is particularly relevant in the run-up to EU-OSHA’s upcoming #EUhealthyworkplaces campaign ‘Together for mental health at work’. 💡 This OSHwiki article on gender equality and PSRs at work provides practical initiatives and tools to help create #SafeAndHealthy workplaces for everyone: https://lnkd.in/ew7rviDU #GenderEquality #PsychosocialRisks #OSHwiki

🌍 This International Youth Day highlights the diversity of backgrounds from which young people come from, while recognising the common aspirations that unite them, including the desire for decent work. At EU-OSHA, we support the integration of occupational safety and health (OSH) into vocational education and training (VET), so that young people can start their careers prepared to work and thrive with #SafetyandHealth. Mainstreaming OSH into VET helps equip apprentices with the skills and confidence they need from day one. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e4w2ajVE #InternationalYouthDay #IYD2026 #OSH #VET

#Harassment at work has serious consequences for workers’ #SafetyandHealth. No one should go to work feeling unsafe because of colleagues or customers. 🤝 Findings from the EU Gender-Based Violence Survey highlight that sexual harassment remains a reality for many women workers. At the same time, the increasing use of digital technologies is creating new challenges, including the risk of cyber harassment. EU-OSHA stands behind the words of European Commission Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu and fully supports the proposal for a European Day in Remembrance of Victims of Accidents at Work. As part of our commitment to safer and healthier workplaces, we’ve just initiated a research project to contribute to the prevention of work-related accidents and injuries by promoting improved management of occupational safety and health. Because no life should be lost because of work.
70 years ago, 262 workers from 12 countries lost their lives in the Marcinelle mining disaster. Their memory carries a simple promise: everyone who goes to work should return home safely. That is why the European Commission is proposing to make 8 August the European Day in Remembrance of Victims of Accidents at Work. A day to remember those we have lost and to renew Europe’s commitment to prevention, safer workplaces and our ambition of zero work-related deaths 👇 https://lnkd.in/ehu4ffUi

🚜 In agriculture, prevention is essential to protect workers' #SafetyandHealth. Our Spanish Focal Point, INSST Instituto Nacional de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo, highlights two simple measures that can save lives when operating a tractor: 🔒 Always wear your seat belt 🛡️ Use a tractor equipped with a ROPS (Roll-Over Protective Structure) Together, these measures significantly reduce the risk of fatal injuries in the event of a tractor overturn. #VuelcaLasCifras
