Jean Carne

Jean signed with Philly International in 1977 after a successful career as a jazz vocalist. While there, she partnered with Dexter Wansel and recorded hit songs like Free Love, Happy to Be With You and Dont Let It Go to Your Head. Later making a brief crossover to Motown, she released Touch Me featuring her version of the Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes classic, If You Dont Know Me By Now. In 1986, while on Omni Records, Jean was reunited with Dexter Wansel and released Closer Than Close. The song was produced by Grover Washington, Jr. and went to #1 on the R&B charts. Jean hit the top 30 again in 1988 with a cover of Aretha Franklins Aint No Way. Her sultry, sensuous voice is still thrilling audiences everywhere.
