Colonel Remy Van Lierde was a Belgian fighter pilot and served during WWII. He serving for the Belgian air force in 1959 in the Congo area. While flying back to base he encountered something extraordinary. Lierde spotted on the forest floor below him a giant snake, emerging from a hole in the ground. After several passes the co-piolt took this picture. Lierde estimated the length of the snake to be around 50 feet, judging by the foliage around it. While the photo has not been verified untampered, Lierde insisted the photo was genuine until his death in 1990.
