Innovation for Dialogue - Theory of Change

In the past, journalists and media organizations were considered the primary gatekeepers of information, playing a central role in shaping public dialogue. However, the rise of social media has shifted this dynamic.
Social media companies control public discussions
Today, algorithms controlled by social media companies control public discussions on their platforms, influencing how issues of public interest are debated both online and offline. This shift has brought significant challenges, including the spread of disinformation, rising polarization, exclusion of marginalized voices, hate speech, and the creation of filter bubbles.
The Theory of Change for innovation for dialogue
To address these challenges, our theory of change focuses on empowering media organizations to develop and implement innovative solutions for constructive dialogue. By collaborating with content creators, filmmakers, civil society organizations (CSOs), and tech/innovation hubs, media organizations can create inclusive, non-violent, and fact-based dialogue formats and tools. These solutions aim to enhance a plurality of opinions and empower citizens to actively engage in and shape discussions on matters that are important to them.
