Sebastian Wirth holds a Master's degree in Television Journalism from City University of London and a Bachelor's degree in Area Studies Asia/Africa from the Humboldt-University of Berlin. 

He first worked for Deutsche Welle as a social media editor on the DW Politics desk. He worked as a documentary researcher and producer in London and as a shooting editor for "funk" and editorial lead for ZDFheute. 

He previously worked in the German Foreign Ministry's media division. In 2026, he joined DW Akademie as a senior editor.
