4 New EU Repair Rights You Didn't Know You Had
Your phone’s warranty gets +12 MONTHS if repaired, and most household appliances are now covered by the new EU Right to Repair.

The EU's new Right to Repair makes repair easier, more affordable and more attractive.
It encourages repair both during and after the legal guarantee, including a 12-month extension of the legal guarantee if you choose repair. This is helping products last longer and reduces waste.
What does this mean for you? The new rules aim to:
• make it easier to choose repair over replacement
• improve access to repair services
• help you find repairers and sellers of refurbished goods
• promote more transparent repair conditions and prices
• support a more circular economy
With the help of the European Repair Information Form, you can compare repair conditions and prices, because the prices and conditions given to you by the repairer must stay valid for 30 days.
And from early 2028, a new European Online Platform for Repair will make it easier to find repairers near you or elsewhere in the EU.

Until now,
it was often simpler to replace your broken device than to repair it.
Not anymore.
You now have stronger rights when your devices need repairing.

And choosing repair can even extend your device's legal guarantee.
Here's what you need to know.
Imagine buying a smartphone
and the camera stops working within the legal guarantee.
The seller offers to repair or replace the phone.
Now, if you choose to repair it,
the legal guarantee for the whole phone
is extended once for 12 months.
Or another situation.
Your washing machine stops draining
after the legal guarantee has expired.
You can now ask your manufacturer to repair it.
The repair must be done within a reasonable time
and at a reasonable price.
Now, let's say you first take your washing machine
to a local repair shop.
A year later, something else breaks.
So you ask the manufacturer to repair it.
The manufacturer cannot refuse this repair
just because another repair shop
has worked on the appliance before.
Any repairer you approach can now use
a Standard European Repair Information Form.
It should clearly state
what needs fixing
the price and how long the repair would take.
When this form is used, the repairer’s offer has to
stay valid for at least 30 days.
This gives you time to compare different offers and think it over.
