What began as a place for personal stories and music is now becoming a home for the full weaving of my work - my songs, my offerings, and the ancient art of Mayan Timekeeping that informs them all. I no longer wish to keep these threads separate.

There is a vast library of wisdom on this cosmology, in books, yes, but especially in the humble elders of the Guatemalan Highlands. Their teachings inspire me to share what I can in English, knowing how many seek to understand the language of the Abuelos (the sacred universal energies) in a way that is accessible, respectful, and free from distortion.

So who am I…?
My name is Ayana. I am the singer/producer, and creator behind Alkame.
I have been walking the path of ancestral medicine and wisdom since 2017. At heart I am a mystic, a singer, and just overall a creative soul, weaving the sacred wisdom of the ancients into my music and working with the voice to create harmony, alignment and to facilitate profound transformations.
I have been in love with The Great Mystery and all the magic and miracle it contains through its expression as LIFE since I can remember walking through the forest and singing to the plants as a 6 year old. I have devoted my life to studying this Great Force that is called by a thousand names, the one that could never be contained, the one that is ineffable, the one some call God, others call Great Spirit, others call the Creator, etc... This is a lifelong task, an honor, and one I have always known I was born for.
What Shapes My Work
After many years learning from the master plant teachers of the Amazon and Peruvian Andes, I found myself yearning to return to my roots. While I carry a deep soul connection to working with master plants, something kept calling me to look into my own Guatemalan bloodline. I come from a family who has rejected their connection to the Indigenous, something that always felt difficult for me to understand and that saddened me. This made it difficult for me to really understand why I felt such a calling to these Indigenous ways of viewing the world yet I persisted and after some digging, I found a connection from a great, great grandfather on my paternal side who came from a Mayan Kiche mother. I knew that it was this ancestor calling me forth, so I began to pray for answers and guidance with this new information.
This search led me into quite a wild journey of ancient teachings and secrets of Mayan Timekeeping, a story of love, death, discovery of my life’s mission, more love, betrayal, lies, revelation and an awakening one could never return from. This story is still being written.
I follow the path of Mayan Timekeeping.
An ancient science and spiritual art that was never lost, rather safely guarded until Father Time marked the moment for this science to begin getting revealed to the outside world. A millenary science, traditional medicine, and cosmovision whose essential purpose is to bring and maintain harmony and order on both a collective and individual level with nature, the cosmos, each other, and ourselves.
Why I’m Sharing This With You
There are prophecies that marked a time in which humanity would begin to seek out the wisdom of the Mayan Cosmovision. We have been, and are just now, in the beginning of that time.
The guardians of this millenary wisdom have begun to open their doors and their hearts to all those of us seeking the ancient ways in order to bring order and alignment to our lives and to a world that finds itself in such heartbreaking chaos yet with the opportunity to create great change. This is part of the change that they knew was coming when 13 Baktun came to a close (December 21st, 2012, it was never about the end of the world, that was what the charlatans were saying, it was about the beginning of a new era and awakening within humanity that would begin).
I came to this wisdom through dreams, patience, unexpected teachers and a whole lot of sacrifice. I feel so privileged and humbled by everything that has been passed on and continues to be passed onto me. The Mayan Cosmovision and its medicine has transformed me in the most unimaginable ways. This, I know is the magic of The Abuelos - the sacred universal energies that guide and sustain us (whether we know it or not, whether we believe in it or not) who begin to speak to us as we open the doorway of our hearts and minds to receive their wisdom, guidance, and healing.
An Important Note
I share here with love and reverence for the guardians of The Mayan medicine and wisdom that has suffered unimaginable oppression yet has resisted, persisted and remained very much alive and thriving and is now opening the way for people such as myself to study and carry this wisdom forward.
I share here only for you to receive what you need and to leave the rest. This wisdom is here to help us understand our place in this Great Mysterious World in which we all partake.

Mark was the first person that really started revealing the energies and their meanings and influence on our lives to me back in 2021 when I began a very determined search for information on the Mayan Cosmovision.
I highly recommend his blog The Four Pillars where he shares the meaning of each day as well as gives a reading of the days every 13 days on his YouTube.
