🏠Speeding up buildings’ renovations and construction is indispensable… but not at all costs! The original goal of a house is to protect people and provide them with a safe shelter. 🧯As clearly pointed out tonight at the European Fire Safety Alliance‘s Fire Safety Week high-level discussion in the European Parliament, living in a fire safe house is a fundamental right and should feature high in the upcoming EU Affordable Housing Plan! 👏Good to see such a wide interest in the subject from EU policymakers, authorities, industries and other stakeholders. Action must be taken at multiple levels, to reduce the risks, allow quicker firefighter interventions, cater for the most vulnerable inhabitants… 🏗️Construction products and systems also matter: gypsum has long been used for its fire resistance properties in construction and renovation works. It was true when France’s 👑Louis XIV ordered all Paris buildings to be covered with plaster, to protect them from fire. It holds true today where the most modern fire resistant plasterboards help our more sustainable and technology-equipped buildings, new and renovated, to withstand fire generated by new risks - such as electric charging or climate change. #firesafety #affordablehousing #construction #housing #gypsum

🏗️ Europe’s construction materials sector is also stepping up to decarbonise Gypsum is a vital building material for Europe’s construction and renovation needs. As the sector prepares for deep decarbonisation, access to reliable, renewable and secure energy sources becomes essential. At European Bioenergy Future 2025, the Working Group Industry will spotlight industrial sectors exploring bioenergy solutions to reduce emissions. The gypsum industry is among those evaluating the potential of biomass to support its transition. We are pleased to welcome: 🎙️ Tristan Suffys, Secretary General, Eurogypsum 🎙️ Alicja Szambelan, Public Affairs Officer, Eurogypsum Together, they will present “Prospects for biomass utilization in the European gypsum industry”, exploring how biomass could play a role as a renewable energy solution in gypsum production processes. Their intervention will look at the sector’s pathways, energy needs, sustainability considerations and how renewable energy options fit into a competitive and future-proof industrial strategy. This perspective adds an important chapter to the discussion on how bioenergy can support the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate industries in Europe. The session forms part of the Day 2 programme (6 November), bringing forward real-world insights from industries exploring and applying biomass solutions. 📅 5 and 6 November 2025 📍 Le Louise Hotel, Brussels 🎟️ Bioenergy Europe Members receive a special registration discount Join us at #EBF2025 and learn how industry sectors across Europe are evaluating bioenergy to accelerate climate goals: 👉 https://lnkd.in/d2pUAj8t #EBF2025 #BioenergyEurope #IndustryDecarbonisation #GypsumIndustry #RenewableEnergy #Biomass #CleanTech #EnergyTransition #Eurogypsum
