But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 2 Timothy 3:1-5
The Central Elementary School (part of the Wall Township Public School system, Wall, NJ), had a Lip-Sync Show at the school over the course of two evenings on January 26 and 27, 2012. I happened to notice the event because someone posted a YouTube video of the school teacher’s lip-sync rendering of Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way.’ Of course it was performed for all students (kindergarten through fifth grade) and their parents who were in attendance.
Here are a few selected verses from the song in case you’re not familiar:
It doesn’t matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M
Just put your paws up ’cause you were Born This Way, Baby…
Just love yourself and you’re set…Don’t be a drag – just be a queen
A different lover is not a sin…
No matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgendered life…
I’m on the right track baby, I was born to survive
Considering the make-up of the audience, I have a problem with this. Who has given permission to our schools to begin advocating sinful life styles to our children? Was there a vote? If so, I didn’t receive my sample ballot in the mail. I’m kind of thinking that the schools should go back to teaching English, and mathematics, and history, and leave these moral issues for the parents to deal with.
You say you’re ok with the whole homosexual thing? Please read on — Born this Way barely scratches the surface of what’s wrong here.
The Kid’s Perform
When the ‘Born This Way’ video uploaded on YouTube, I observed down the right side of the webpage a variety of other videos from Central’s 2012 and 2011 lip sync shows. I was shocked to see and hear the perverse songs these young children were singing to. Did they select their own songs to perform to? I kept wondering aloud,
Didn’t anyone at this school think to check these song lyrics before they allowed the kids to perform them?
Here’s a sampling of some of the more offensive lyrics:
From the song, “Dj Got Us Falling In Love”
So we back in the club…
Gonna burn this mother f * * ker down…
So dance, dance, like it’s the last, last night of your life…
Really? Can you imagine your fourth-grader lip-syncing and gyrating on stage to that? Were the parents squirming in their seats listening to this or were they clapping along oblivious to what their kids were singing.
From the song, “Twist My Hips”
In the club party rock look up on your girl
She on my jock non stop when we in the spot
Booty on the way like she on the block
What the track I gots to know…
I’m runnin through these hoes like drano…
One more shot for us, Another round, Please fill up my cup
Don’t mess around, We just wanna see, You shake it now
Now you wanna be,Your naked now
“I’m runnin through whores like Drano? One more shot for us?” What in God’s name are we teaching our five through ten-year olds?
From the song, “Ice Ice Baby”
I’m killin your brain like a poisonous mushroom…
Girls were hot wearing less than bikinis…
Shay with a guage and Vanilla with a nine (those are guns people)
Gunshots ranged out like a bell
I grabbed my nine — All I heard were shells…
Fallin on the concrete real fast
Jumped in my car, slammed on the gas…
Police on the scene, You know what I mean
They passed me up, confronted all the dope fiends
If there was a problem
That’s wonderful! Let’s glamorize gang life, drugs, and murder. Again folks, this is an elementary school performance by children. Where is the adult supervision?
From the song, “If I Had You”
There’s a thin line between the dark side and the light side,
From New York to LA getting high rock n’ rollin
Get a room trash it up ’til it’s ten in the morning
Girls in stripper heels, boys rolling in Maseratis…
What they need in this world is some love
It’s a fair line between a wild time and a flat line baby tonight
It’s a struggle gotta rumble tryin’ to find it
In a time when teen suicide is at an all time high, do we really want our pre-teens proclaiming the line, “It’s a fair line between a wild time and a flat line, it’s a struggle…tryin’ to find it.” I’m quite sure we do not.
From the song, “Let’s Get It Started”
To lose the inhibition, follow your intuition
Free your inner soul and break away from tradition…
Get stupid…
Lose control of body and soul, Get stoned (Come on!)
Let’s get cuckoo…Get messy…Loud and sick…
Your mind past normal on another head trip…
So, come dumb now do not correct it…
Let’s get ignorant
Let’s get hectic
‘Get stupid?’ I believe we have! These lyrics are insane. Is anybody out there seeing this?
From the song, “Halo”
Remember those walls I built, Well, baby they’re tumbling down
And they didn’t even put up a fight, They didn’t even make up a sound…
I found a way to let you in But I never really had a doubt
Standing in the light of your halo I got my angel now…
It’s like I’ve been awakened Every rule I had you breakin’
It’s the risk that I’m takin’ I ain’t never gonna shut you out…
Everywhere I’m looking now I’m surrounded by your embrace
Baby I can see your halo You know you’re my saving grace…
Think I’m addicted to your light.
Is this the message we want our daughters to hear? Two more songs to go (there were many more YouTube posts from this event that I did not post):
From the song, “The Time”
I came up in here to rock! Light a fire, make it hot!
I don’t wanna take no pictures! I just wanna take some shots!
So come on, let’s go! Let’s lose control!
Let’s do it all night! Until we can do it no more!
Keep on rocking to the sound! Turn it up and watch it pound!
We gon’ rock it to the top, Until the roof come burnin’ down!
Get hot in here! The temperature!
Has got these Ladies! Getting Freakier!
I got freaky, freaky, baby! I was chilling with my Ladies!
I didn’t come to get boogie! I came here to get crazy!
I was born to get wild! That’s my style!
If you didn’t know that, well, baby, now you know now!
Okay, you know what the song is about, right? If you don’t, ask your ten-year old what it means (she probably learned about it in school).
From the song, “All I Do Is Win”
All I Do is win, win, win, no matter what…
my hands go up and down like strippers booty’s go…
dirty money bitch you better get your mud right…
we come together holding hands and holla thug life…
it’s like thug life…
heat in the Kitchen, pot on the stove,
water getting boiled, dope getting sold…
hit the lick, hit it back,.hit the trick, jump the track
bitch I want my money back…
time and time again while I’m sipping on this gin
Prostitution. Drugs. Gangs. Nice.
I am appalled. Are you?
Mr. Greg Storts, the principal of the Central Elementary School and the Wall Township School Board should stop this atrocious behavior immediately or resign from their posts.
Folks, this kind of activity is going on across this great country of ours and most likely in the majority of our school districts. It must stop now. All we need do is look at the moral decay of our children in these last few decades to understand how this whole scenario will ultimately play out. It’s not getting any better and we have to stop the trend.
Call your school and tell them enough is enough.
Although the public school system is not willing to hear it, I’ll say it anyway: “The solution is salvation found in Christ Jesus alone.” If Jesus is still rejected, then at the very least, some degree of moral decorum must be restored to our schools.

Dave your stupid I go to the Show every year. They use edited songs, and only parts of the song not the whole thing. Get your facts straight jesus freak.

If you approve, then with all due respect, you are part of the problem. The fact that you would opt to call me ‘stupid’ and ‘Jesus freak’ rather then engage in civil dialogue serves to confirm my assessment.
I give everybody one warning, so if you choose to respond, refrain from foul language and insults, or I will delete you and nobody will get to read your opinions.
Praying for you anonymous.

Dave, I attended a two-hour, semi-annual informational meeting at church, this afternoon. These meetings are about the direction of the church, and the direction this year is to focus on discipleship. Discipleship comes through community, spiritual transformation and…something else that I’ve forgotten. But the result is that we are transformed [into Christ-likeness] to lead others to transformation.
Some examples were given of what some of the life groups in the church have been doing. One example I heard stood out, specifically in relation to your blog post: A few life groups are “prayer walking” some of the schools in town. I’m hoping to find out more about that.

Wow, that sounds like a wonderful response and likely the most effective thing a Christian can do at this point. The Christian parents whose children need to be informed and take precisely this kind of action. The Christian teachers in these schools (and I know there are plenty) need to take a stance behind the walls as well..

Wow…… while I am not shocked, it’s horrible that those we entrust our children with are basically condoning and neglecting all at once. They are teaching our kids to not bully or curse or judge and such yet have them sing to songs/raps that talk about the very things they claim to be against.
My kids don’t fit in at school and that’s ok. They know what the Bible says about not conforming to this world. The conviction is upon them to not participate in such songs or events that goes against God, their morals, values and integrity.
I tell them that if they are questioned or harassed by a teacher or staff member about why they refuse to participate then they need to contact me. I don’t play that mess at all. While this world is jacked up enough as it is, the more I have to do my part as a parent and a servant of the Lord to stick to Proverbs 22:6 ” Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Thank you for sharing. I pray that change in some form will become evident. One man taking a stand is better than none at all. God bless.

That’s my prayer too Terra. I mean I am angry, but I’m not looking for heads to roll…I just want it to stop. May they all be convicted by the Holy Spirit to be the best stewards of the children as they can be.

Here’s another public school event in my neighborhood that I found to be appalling:

I don’t really care if people want to gather and share their commonalities, but when the public school wants to jump in and actually teach children how to become involved in the activity, they have crossed the line.

wow. that is awful. AWFUL! Shame on their parents who allow these doors to open and wonder what went wrong when they are teens.

These are the kinds of things that make me want to home school when I have children. This is a difficult world to live in. Jesus said it is better for a millstone to be hung around their neck and be thrown into the ocean than lead astray one of His little ones. Sometimes adults do it and don’t even realize what they are doing. If only they’d be more cautious and knowledgeable of the consequences.

That’s exactly the Bible verse I thought of this morning Tara. These teachers have no idea how they are going to be held accountable for what they do to our kids. My hope is that they would understand the danger and repent. I certainly don’t want to see anyone ‘fry’, but rather they confess their sin and turn away from it (and prayerfully turn to Jesus).

Thanks for this informative post. What’s very sad now that I see is many of the parents now think that it is cool to like this music along with their children. I observe so many parents trying to “fit in” with their children instead of being the parent. Mothers try to dress like their daughters and hang out with their friends. I was with my sister-in-law a few weekends back and when ever we got in the car, you couldn’t tell who was mother and who was daughter, they were listening to all this crazy music and dancing. It was crazy. These kids to day need PARENTS. parents that will fight for their children’s soul. Who will be their role model and not their “friend”. Another example Twilight how many adult women went crazy over these books and movies? Ok I am done:)

Thanx Paula. I agree with your sentiment. I’m willing to give the school and the parents the benefit of the doubt (that they were absolutely clueless to what the lyrics were to these songs), in the HOPE that now that they know they will be make the necessary correction. Frankly, every parent needs to know what’s going on at their child’s school and they need to know exactly what’s going on at home as well.

WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU?

The liberal Left has given the schools across America not only permission, but a “mandate” to teach “alternative” lifestyles. Looks like this is one creative way to do that. The kids hear these songs on MTV or wherever and think they’re cool, long before they have any real understanding of what the songs are really saying. They don’t understand what’s happening to them; they’re just going where they’re led.
It’s up to the parents of the children in the schools to put pressure on the school boards and the principals. If not enough parents speak out, attend the school board meetings and make their voices heard (firmly, but respectfully), the situation will only get worse.
As for the rest of us, the answwers remain: pray diligently for Godly leaders at all levels, and vote the best that we can.

We’d all love to think that these elementary school kids don’t know what these songs mean. Love to. Problem is, I work in a rural school, considered a very good school, with kids this age. And they do know what some of these songs mean. Most of them, by the time they’re seven or eight, know a lot about drugs, profanity, inuendo, sex, and violence. They ought to. Their parents let them play Halo and watch Family Guy and R-rated movies.

I suspect they do know Sarah. The truth be told (as you have alluded to) if we demand our schools be held accountable, we must realize we are even more accountable. God is not mocked and we will reap what we sow.
