#BeyondTheMeals 🌱 Clementina’s story in the ‘Dry Corridor’ of #Guatemala. Many women like Clementina are building community #resilience in response to #climate challenges. Her harvest includes tomatoes, radishes, and fresh vegetables. “If I don’t work, then I don’t eat. By working, you’re bringing things in, selling, and eating. And that’s what makes me happy, because we’re making use of things—both for ourselves and to sell,” she says. Thanks to a World Food Programme project, families in Guatemala have received #agriculture training and access to #water for irrigation. ✅ 300 households of around 1,500 people are growing diverse crops, improving their diets, and reducing seasonal #food gaps. ✅ Climate-resilient water systems and community-led solutions are helping ensure #foodsecurity. 🆘🌊 #Mozambique is experiencing the worst #floods in 20 years. Over 600,000 people have been affected and need support. Many families have lost their homes, crops, and livelihoods, and are now sheltering in temporary accommodation. Central and southern provinces have been hit especially hard, with major rivers overflowing, homes destroyed, and communities cut off. #SharedPlates 🍽️ #Honduras Here, Carmen Julia and her family share a traditional #meal of cassava with beef crackling, beans, and plantains, or “yuca con chicharrón, frijoles y plátanos” in Spanish.     This meal is more than #food — it’s a symbol of resilience and unity. Thanks to the World Food Programme’s support of the National School Feeding Programme, families like this benefit from a model that links #schoolmeals to local purchases, transforming #education, #nutrition, and rural economies.     Over 500 smallholder farmers, organized in cooperatives, are now connected to the school feeding system, strengthening livelihoods and #foodsecurity.

BeyondTheMeals: Saratu’s story 💛 Dawayo Community, Yobe State, #Nigeria. As a member of a poultry #farming group, Saratu and her team visit the farm daily to feed the chickens, clean the pens, and collect eggs for incubation and sale. The #farm is more than a source of #food — it’s a lifeline for women in communities affected by conflict and economic hardship. The World Food Programme provided two chicken pens as part of the resilience hubs project in the region. These hubs help families return to #agriculture and rebuild their livelihoods. 🥚 The 400-bird poultry farm provides eggs and an incubation facility to brood more birds. 🥚 Profits from egg sales go to the local group, enabling women to reinvest and expand operations.     Saratu’s story is one of #resilience, empowerment, and hope — proving that with the right support, communities can thrive again.
