I always find it a little bit awkward when I’m asked a question such as “tell me about yourself.” What exactly do people really want to hear? Do they want a bold lie, like in an interview? Or do they want the honest truth? I can say a lot of things. I can manipulate, I can lie. Its something I’ve done for most of my life. I’m a good talker. I would love to stop right here to tell you the last part was a lie and go on about how great I am. But I can’t. So that being said, I started this blog for a couple reasons. Mainly I started it so I could finally be honest with myself and maybe this could somehow help someone along the way. I am a recovering drug addict, after the last 10 years of consistent abuse, I am clean. Proudly. Throughout the blog I will post random entries in no specific order. I hope those who read, enjoy.
Please feel free to ask me anything, whether it’s personal or not I will do my best to answer honestly.

Thanks in advance for reading.
That’s exactly how this professor feels at times. Let’s just lie from now on! š
Haha, yeah. Why not!
You know, I think it may be the professorish thing to do–which is even better! Really nice meeting you.

You know what? I don’t know you. I saw you followed my blog and check out yours. I just finished reading your post about being a junkie, and I’m happy that you’re over it. I guess each us is dealing with or battling some sort of a problem. It could be laziness, indecision, or some disorder. It’s great to hear or read stories of people who have gotten through their own crises. Thank you!
Hi, thanks for following my blog, really love to read more from you š
Get well and recover soon. It sounds good to listen to you.
Hey, you are inspiring. Good for you for getting clean and fighting the good fight. I know its not easy. I also admire how you are reaching out to tell your story and to help others who struggle. You write very well and I feel like u really had a way of explaining what its like for someone getting clean, that makes it understandable and relatable. I’m going to keep an eye on your blog, u keep up the good work. My heart goes out to you.
Hey, I really appreciate your kind words. It means a lot and I want to say thank you. I hope you enjoy š Wishing you all the best,
Crystal
Many of my family and friends are, or were, addicts and alcoholics. I came very close to joining them. Thankfully I’m clean and sober. ~ Dennis
Me too, its nice to finally be able to say I am sober and happy.
Someone very close to me just relapsed with opioids. If you were my daughter, I’d cherish you and accept you, but not enable you. Sending peace!
I’m sorry to hear that, I wish them all the best. Thank you,
Crystal
Hi Crystal š
Thank you for following my blog.
You have an interesting blog yourself.
Looking forward to reading it.
Thanks for following my blog. I took the opportunity to read many of your posts. My daughter suffers from mental illness and has abused pain meds and other drugs. She has lied to me, stolen from me, screamed at me and yet, wants me to take care of her. It is difficult for me to understand how she could do these things. I am way beyond feeling hurt. It has been 15 years of it and I am numb to it.
I am going to be following your blog. I think your struggles may give me some insight into the process of recovery. I will be rooting for your continued success!
I’m sorry to hear that; addiction makes people do stupid things.they wouldn’t otherwise do. I know how difficult it must be for you, my mom has said the same things. It’s only been recently that we are mending our relationship. It’s not easy, and addiction effects everyone involved not just the addict. I hope by reading my blog you are able to get some insight. I wish you nothing but the best,
Crystal
Thanks. I hope you and your mother reconnect and are kind to one another. That is what I am hoping for with my situation.
I am looking at your Oct 27 blog – your writing is strong & honest & gutsy – I hardly know you & I admire you
Thank you so much!
I want you to know I mean it
I believe you and I appreciate it more than you know š
I think the most important thing, given how empty the online experience can be, is to make sure you have real people in your real world from whom you can get some kind of comfort and happiness, because the online space can be helpful, but is too often not enough. Never feel like you have to give more here, say more, or be more, than your inner knowing is okay with. So if someone asks more of you than you feel comfortable with… you belong only to you. God, I love boundaries. š
Sorry Crystal, I tried to reply to your comment on ‘Letting Go’ and it keeps saying ‘Page not found’, so I ducked into here. Thank you for your comment back to me AND I made a little mistake in my original comment to you if you would like to edit it so others don’t get confused by the statement.
Where it said on the top line ‘expectations of others’ it should have said ‘expectations we have of others’.
Big difference, and we all do it š
Anyway, I am proud of your blog, it is creating your truth and now you can give many others a light in a very dark world that they are currently travelling. And yes, sometimes I see a time lag in what you are relating…but sometimes not. Must be a male thing š (Delete all this if you wish) Namaste
Yeah I know my WordPress app on my phone keeps messing up. I will get that sorted out, thank you for finding a place to respond though. I won’t be deleting anything, I really appreciate every last word from each of your comments. All the best,
Crystal
Thank you Crystal, that is a lovely thing to say and it is taken with the love it was given. Love, light and blessings for a beautiful Christmas and New Year. I know your wishes will be answered as you are already creating them in your life from what I see and feel from your blog. Have an even better 2014. Namaste
Hi Crystal,
Thanks for writing your blog. You are helping me understand my own issues. Simiar and different all at the same time. Being honest with yourself, living the way you say you want, not giving in to the temptations..and the awful feeling of depression and loneliness, because it is just you by yourself in the end. I am a reader, not a writer. I do not posess the intelligence to write, nor the motivation to maintain it. To many cuncussive events or it could be a culmination of all the experiences have changed the way I process thoughts.. I’ll deal with it. Looking forward to seeing more…
Thank you. I am glad I am helping people…even if its minimal. That’s why I started this blog. I haven’t had much to say recently, but I am continuing to write. I will be posting soon! I wish you all the best, and if you ever need to talk shoot me an email.
Hi Crystal,
I’m in the process of breathing a bit of life back into my blog and re-read the post of yours that we put up there… it’s been a few years. Let me you’re doing okay. Peace.
