The Editor Afloat offers proofreading and editing services for the written word. The only TV show I watch is NCIS so the name comes from the designation of an NCIS Special Agent assigned to a vessel, “Agent Afloat”. I live aboard a boat and work from home. That makes me an Editor Afloat!
I’m not exactly the girl-next-door. I’m an awful cook but I can train your horse, drive an 18-wheeler, and am learning to write code for Web sites and Android apps. I am creative with a flair for communications. My favorite artistic medium is painting pictures with words. It started in grade school when I earned an “A+” on nearly every one of my spelling tests. Then in 8th grade, I won the school spelling bee. I have written articles for the Humane Society of Cottage Grove’s quarterly newsletter for the last 14 years. I began blogging a couple of years ago, sharing my experiences driving cross-country delivering pets.
My hope is that you stop by my blog whenever you have time, read what’s on my mind and share what’s on yours. C’mon in! The coffee’s always on.

Hi Ed… a dream of mine? To own my own large canal barge and spend my life criss-crossing the waterways of Europe. Writing as I go. One thing we most certainly don’t have in common… I can’t spell… was at the end of the queue when that talent was handed out!
None-the-less, thanks for following OMBH… I hope you find the odd smile and not too many spelling mistakes that require your assistance. Do read my Rules of Engagement on the About page… you’ll find there’s another Editor as well… one that doesn’t float! 😉

Hi aj! Thanks for stopping by. Europe by boat would be a challenge but amazing. I’m happy in my wooden motor yacht. 🙂 I can take a day-trip down to our coast and then chug back up the river to my marina. I never get tired of the views.

I love how honest you are – it’s refreshing…:)
I want to travel across country, but I’m trying to stay in one place for a while. How is life on the water? What does it feel like to have such solitude? Does it help with your writing? What is the most interesting thing about writing abroad the water?

Thanks for your thoughts satire. I wasn’t sure what I would think about living aboard. I love it. I find it peaceful even during the storms. I can hear the rain pounding on the deck and feel the boat rocking with the waves. You can lose yourself just sitting and staring at the water; makes it easier for me to clear my mind.
