Unable to Verify Student Status Due to Arabic Naming Convention Despite Exact Name Match #164969
-
Hello GitHub Education Team and Community, I am having trouble getting verified for the Student Education Developer Pack because of my name format, and I would appreciate any help or guidance. My academic document (a school report card) shows my full legal name in Arabic as: مصطفى حيدر غازي I have updated my GitHub profile full name and my billing information to exactly match this full name (first name: مصطفى, last name: حيدر غازي), as required by GitHub’s guidelines. However, my application keeps getting rejected with the message that my academic document’s name does not match my GitHub profile name. I understand that GitHub’s verification system may be strict with matching names exactly, but my Arabic naming convention is different from Western-style names, and I want to confirm that my profile name is a perfect match for my official documents. I have logged out and logged back in after updating my profile and billing info, and I have uploaded clear images of my report card showing my full name, school name, and current academic year. Could someone please assist with a manual review or guide me on how to resolve this issue? Thank you very much for your time and support. Best regards, |

Hi @sponge104, I recommend you translate your academic proof from Arabic to English and then fill in your billing information and your GitHub profile with your translated full name exactly as appears on your academic transcript. The automated system is unable to correctly read languages that don't use the Latin alphabet. For further reference, take a look at this discussion, as this user solved it by doing this: #164204 |
