Preparations start for the Nasimi Festival in Baku and Shamakhy

In the course of September 23 to 25, the next Nasimi – Poetry, Culture and Art Festival – organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture – will be held.

To be held at various places of Baku and Shamakhy, the festival will, this time, be remembered by studying the philosophical and literary legacy of Azerbaijani poet and thinker Imadeddin Nasimi, as well as a series of events related to literature and art.

On September 23 and 25, the festival will cover a number of cultural sites of Baku, including the Heydar Aliyev Center, Icherisheher, and Ateshgah temple. An international conference, scientific sessions and discussions related to Nasimi’s creativity, organization of exhibitions, show of spectacles, as well as holding of a literary and artistic evening and musical presentations are expected to take place during the festival days.

On September 24, the festival will continue in Shamakhy. It will, for the first time, be organized in the Nasimi Gardens Complex, covering different areas of the territory. Here will be presented an artistic programme related to Nasimi’s creativity with participation of renowned and favourite mugham singers, vocalists, and readers, including a ballet, the “Multidisciplinary Art Festival” in the open air, master classes, and a concert.

Participants of the festival will also have a chance to become acquainted with the gigantic monument of great Azerbaijani poet Imadeddin Nasimi, made in a modern style, on the territory of the Nasimi Gardens Complex.

Having been organized since 2018, the Nasimi Festival aims at promoting dialogue between cultures and generations. It also serves as a platform for representatives of the modern art to build a connection with Nasimi’s profound legacy, and to create a bridge between traditional and modern experiences.
