Nasimi Festival continues in Shamakhy-the homeland of the poet

The Nasimi – Poetry, Morality and Art Festival continues, on its second day, in Shamakhy – the homeland of the poet of genius.

Held at the Nasimi Gardens Complex for the first time, the festival has been organized in various places of this territory. On the second day of the festival, participants are watching a rich cultural programme.

The festival started by an artistic programme dedicated to the creativity of Imadeddin Nasimi, with participation of famous and beloved mugham singers, vocalists, and readers.

Accompanied by the Ancient Musical Instruments Ensemble led by artistic director, People’s Artist Munis Sharifov, performances of mugham singers Alim Gasymov and Fergana Gasymova, as well as Ilkin Dovlatov and Huseyn Melikov were listened, and poems were read by Mehriban Zeki, Khalida Guliyeva, Khazar Suleymanly, Qasym Naghy, Aliagha Tapdygov, Firuza Ismayil, and Lale Suleymanly.

Festival participant Yogaddin said to AZERTAC that the event held at the Nasimi Gardens Complex enchanted him, mentioning that the nature, history of Shamakhy and the spirit of the poetry, coming together, created a special atmosphere here.

According to Yogaddin, the unity of music and poetry, as well as presentations of young artists have increased the significance of the festival, inspiring everybody. Cultural and moral connection are formed here between people, who come together to share, and be inspired.

Student of the Baku Choreography Academy, performer of the Sufi dance Islam Mammadov noted that through festival, it becomes possible to spread Nasimi’s words, his poems and thoughts, and convey them to a wider audience. He added that such events increase the creativity potential of the youth, strengthen their thinking with regard to their national and cultural roots, deepening their interest for literature and art.
