Review Policy

To My Readers

When you want to get in touch with me, use the form  near the bottom of this page. I’d love to hear anything that you have to say.

Please note that I am a reviewer of books not the author of the books I review.  So please don’t contact me in hopes of contacting an author.  Otherwise, contact away!

Also, I review all books honestly, no matter how I acquire them.  I’m much more likely to NOT review a book I didn’t like, than to post a scathing review.  At the least, I will tell you why I think you may like it, even if I didn’t.

To Authors & Publishers

I am more than happy to take review copies and catalogs from authors and publishers and to participate in blog tours and author interviews. However, due to the overwhelming amount of requests I receive, I am selective about the titles I accept. If you don’t hear back from me, don’t worry, just try another title later.

This blog is voluntary and is written by a lover of books and certified bookworm.  I love books, whether it be Fiction, YA, Middle Grade Fiction, Picture Books, Memoir, Non-Fiction, Parenting, etc. I normally do not read mysteries, romance, chick-lit, thrillers, political thrillers, or erotica. I also tend to dislike books that are particularly vulgar, overly sexual, and has an unusual amount of foul language. To get an idea of my reading tastes visit both my reading list and my library of books I own.

My acceptance of a review copy does not guarantee that I will write a review, but if I do finish the book I will write a review. I do not promise a rave review, but I will write reviews that I feel are honest and will help my readers select quality books for their reading time.  I review all books honestly, no matter how I acquire them.  I’m much more likely to NOT review a book I didn’t like, than to post a scathing review.  At the least, I will tell the reader why I think they may like it, even if I didn’t.

I try to read the review titles that I receive in a timely manner but due to time constraints and other reading interests it sometimes takes a few months to read what I receive. I really do try, but I promise that I will get to everything.

I do not receive any compensation for writing reviews. The only money that I currently make from my blog is from Amazon, whereby I get a small commission if you click through a product link from my site and make a purchase during that same session.

All that said, feel free to contact me if interested with your review requests.

If you are a publisher or author who would like their book reviewed here on my blog, just e-mail me at hsfargis@bellsouth.net

  1. Hi,

I came across your website while looking for online book resources. You’ve got some great suggestions!

You are clearly a very active reader and talk to a community of bibliophiles, so I thought you or your readers may be interested in MyBookBuyer. It’s a place were you can sell all of your old books online, and they pay for the shipping. Convenient right?

As a student at UC Berkeley, my friends and I have found it extremely helpful over the years. If you find it helpful and would be interested in writing about it, let me know!

    best,
    Kelsey Elliott

  2. Hi,

My name is Chris Tusa, and my novel, Dirty Little Angels, is due out
March 1st from the University if West Alabama. I am writing because I
was hoping you’d be willing to consider my novel for inclusion in your
blog (or for possible review). I’ve provided a brief summary below:

Set in the slums of New Orleans, among clusters of crack houses and
abandoned buildings, Dirty Little Angels is the story of sixteen year
old Hailey Trosclair. When the Trosclair family suffers a string of
financial hardships and a miscarriage, Hailey finds herself looking to
God to save her family. When her prayers go unanswered, Hailey puts her
faith in Moses Watkins, a failed preacher and ex-con. Fascinated by
Moses’s lopsided view of religion, Hailey, and her brother Cyrus, begin
spending time down at an abandoned bank that Moses plans to convert
into a drive-through church. Gradually, though, Moses’s twisted
religious beliefs become increasingly more violent, and Hailey and
Cyrus soon find themselves trapped in a world of danger and fear from
which there may be no escape.

If you’re interested, you can read the first chapter at my website:
