Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Yes, one of the main reasons I chose SP4 over the Surface Book in my purchasing decision, was that the surface has so many iterations going back over the years, that I hoped these launch issues would not be as prevalent.  for a fourth gen product, the first week has not been as excellent as hoped for many users.

When I experienced my "black screen of death" issue out of the box, I called the phone support tech who assisted me with downloading and reinstalling a fresh Windows 10 "from the cloud" (no USB) and then immediately updated to the new firmware.  It's only been a couple days but so far so good.

I was able to get the Surface Pro 4 working again, although I am not sure exactly WHY it is working. I haven't had any problems since, and I am quite happy with it. Unfortunately, since I don't really how I fixed it, I am not sure how to fix it if it happens again.

I am happy to see that Microsoft is releasing fixes quickly. But new problems arises after install this update.

Screen can't wake up from sleep!

After I close the type cover and make system sleep, there is a high chance that screen won't wake up when I open it again.

I can see the red light for face recognition, I can hear the system's sound, I know the system is running, but the screen is black out. Without display, there is no way to know what is going around. I have to push the power button for 10s to power off.

That's ridiculous, what use of a tablet if it cannot wake up from sleep?
