Breakfast of Diversity 🌍🥐 As a signatory of the Charte de la Diversité Lëtzebuerg, our Sustainability Lab wanted to bring the topic to life within our team. So this week, we gathered for our very own Breakfast of Diversity. 💡 The idea was simple: everyone could bring something to eat or drink connected to their heritage, home, culture, a tradition, a memory or a journey and share the story behind it. 💜 There were plenty of stories around the table:  A grandmother’s brownie and cake that helped inspire a passion for baking. Crêpes that bring back memories of making them with Dad. Dried pears from Mum’s village in Portugal. Ginger beer inspired by travels through Australia. A grandmother’s “Nussecken” recipe with a story reaching back generations. “Manchego” cheese linked to unforgettable holidays in Spain. Bagels bringing back the feeling of becoming a New Yorker during a semester abroad. A rather powerful start to the morning from the Martinique. Tsoureki and the experience of becoming part of a Greek family. And the introduction to the Saarland’s love affair with Maggi. 😄 Of course, organic fruits from the local market, for an energised day, and a Luxembourgish classic couldn’t be missing either: our “Mëtschen”. And we even had a birthday cake to celebrate one of our colleagues. 🎂 A small reminder that diversity isn't something abstract. It’s part of who we are, what we bring with us and what we can discover when we take the time to share it with one another. 💜 P.S. A first look inside Maison Melu 👀 Ahead of its official opening, we had the pleasure of being exclusively invited to discover Maison Melu, where Michel Volk showed our director Antje V. and our colleague Tiago Santos from Business Development & Networks what his team has been working on over the past months: bringing together hotel stays and residential living. What stood out? Efficiency, clean architecture and smart design. A city within the city: green, lively and sustainable. 🌿 Located in Luxembourg-Gare, Maison Melu introduces a new approach to urban stays, with fully serviced lofts and residences designed for anything from one night to one year. But it’s the thinking beyond the rooms that makes the concept particularly interesting: shared spaces to cook and come together, a café, gym, market, courtyards, art spaces and plenty of thoughtful details throughout. We were also happy to see Luxembourg’s identity woven into the concept. “Melu” takes its name from Melusina, the legendary figure closely linked to the origins of Luxembourg City. 💜 Another aspect we particularly appreciated was the approach to the building itself: renovating, preserving what already works and combining it with a new-generation urban concept targeting BREEAM Excellent certification. Thank you, Michel, for the warm welcome and for taking the time to show us around before the doors officially open. It was a pleasure discovering this new addition to Luxembourg City. Souvenirs inspired by Luxembourg City 💜 We’ve been working on something over the past few months! If you’ve been following our monthly recaps, you may already have spotted a few sneak peeks. 👀 We’ve reimagined the shop inside our Tourist Information with one clear ambition: to expand our collection with products that are local/regional, sustainable, inclusive and inspired by Luxembourg’s heritage. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥.  • Candles and keyrings produced together with the “atelier protégé” ATP. The candles feature some of the city’s best-known sights, while the keyrings are crafted from reclaimed railway track, a nod to Luxembourg’s steel industry.  • A water bottle made from recycled materials, inspired by Melusina and the origins of Luxembourg City.  • Poldi magnets from Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner (help for children with cancer), with all proceeds going to the charity.  • Postcards and magnets from Siggy, a Luxembourgish start-up creating modern around the culture and identity of Luxembourg (complete with our own stamps).  • Cups from Villeroy & Boch Group, a ceramics manufacturer with deep roots in Luxembourg dating back to 1766.  • Stéck fir Stéck, a student mini-enterprise from Lycée Michel Lucius that has turned a passion for the country’s heritage into handcrafted puzzles featuring some of Luxembourg’s most iconic landmarks, produced in collaboration with the “atelier protégé” Fondation Kräizbierg. 🐦And, of course, our Péckvillecher remain part of the collection, with pieces crafted by Ligue HMC and Xanna Faia Ceramic. 📍You can now discover the collection at the Luxembourg City Tourist Office at Place Guillaume II (Knuedler). But we’re not stopping here. 🗓️ LCTO July Recap 💭 We: 🟣 Joined thousands of participants at the Luxembourg Pride Run, showing our support for inclusion, diversity and equal opportunities. 🏳️🌈 🟣 Continued our Hospitality Training programme, empowering tourism and hospitality professionals as ambassadors for Luxembourg City. 🟣 Refreshed our tourist shop display with widening the collection focused on local, regional, sustainable, inclusive and heritage-inspired products. 🟣 Prepared the new season of the Grand Ducal Palace tours through press visits and new photo productions celebrating the diversity of Luxembourg. 🟣 Organised two visits with the social committee of Luxinnovation GIE, featuring a special surprise guest: the Marshal of the Court of Luxembourg, Sasha Baillie. 🟣 Accompanied the team of La Grande Balade from VISITWallonia, showcasing Luxembourg City as part of a wider cross-border travel reportage. 🟣 Strengthened local partnerships by welcoming members of the Union Commerciale de la Ville de Luxembourg (City Shopping) for a guided visit of the Bock Casemates. 💡 July was also a month of important milestones across our organisation. 🎓 Learning never stops. Neither does great guiding. At the Luxembourg City Tourist Office, becoming an official guide of Luxembourg City is just the beginning. Throughout the year, we invest in continuous training and professional development to ensure our guides can offer every visitor the best possible experience. Since January, our guides have: 🟣 Explored the life and work of Charles Arendt during a visit to LUCA – Luxembourg Center for Architecture. 🟣 Taken part in specialised training on guiding young audiences. 🟣 Strengthened their communication skills through voice training. 🟣 Expanded their knowledge of Luxembourg's UNESCO World Heritage. 🟣 Gained hands-on experience by accompanying bus tours through Luxembourg City. 🟣 Participated in different briefings to expand their portfolio of guided tours. Each training session helps our guides deepen their knowledge, refine their skills and continue sharing the stories of Luxembourg City with passion, confidence and expertise. And if you look closely… you may have spotted a few hints of what we've been working on behind the scenes. New tours and experiences are on the way. 🎓 Congratulations to the 12 official tourist guides of Luxembourg City working with the Luxembourg City Tourist Office who have completed the first national training organised by the Ministère de l'Économie - Luxembourg in collaboration with the House of Training. Taken on a voluntary basis, this complimentary qualification allowed to deepen their knowledge of the country of Luxembourg. The initiative certified a total of 79 participants and was open to anyone wishing to share their passion for Luxembourg with visitors from around the world. The programme provided a structured framework to explore the country's history, culture and natural heritage. 🤝 Fruitful collaboration starts with fair processes! Presented by Markcom Luxembourg during their 30th anniversary celebrations, FairProcess creates a shared framework for healthier, more transparent and more balanced relationships between agencies, clients, media owners and public authorities. The Luxembourg City Tourist Office is proud to have joined the FairProcess commitment as the first certified organisation, with certification 001. For us, it formalises principles that have long guided the way we work: fair recognition and fair remuneration for the value of the work delivered 💜. Last week, our team, represented by Antje V. and Daniel Martin, was honoured to join Tom Turping, President of Markcom Luxembourg, in celebrating 30 years of fostering better relationships between communication agencies and advertisers.
