General Info
These rules can't cover every situation, so use common sense. Staff have training, and all punishments are at staff discretion.
You're responsible for your account's security. Don't share account details or passwords.
Reports & Appeals
- Staff Report: for staff misconduct (with evidence). Not for punishment appeals.
- Ban/Mute Appeal: to appeal a punishment. See the Appeal Your Punishment Wiki article.
- Allowed/Illegal Mods: Wiki article on mods.
Rules That Apply Everywhere Below
- Warnings: Verbal warnings and
/warnare a courtesy at staff discretion. - Accelerated Pathway: Staff may accelerate punishments for players who reoffend shortly after a punishment expires.
- Assisting Cheaters: Knowingly assisting or benefiting from cheaters (providing alts, gear, or support) is punished as if you cheated yourself. Applies to all Cheating categories.
- Default Appeal Rule: Appeals are only accepted or reduced if the punishment was in error. Exceptions are noted under each category.
Private Messages & Group Chats
Staff generally don't moderate voluntary chats (friend, party, squad chat); chat leaders enforce their own rules. Admins may authorize punishments case-by-case based on chat content. Malicious Violations and Misconduct are always punishable, regardless of channel.
Private messages (/msg, /r, /tell) are rarely punished unless reported by the recipient or sent to staff.
Evasion
Evasion is bypassing restrictions (using alts to dodge bans or mutes). Punishments escalate based on the original offense and what's done while evading. All evasions are tracked on the original account.
Two Types
- Without Escalation: No greater rules broken while evading. Follows the original offense's path.
- With Escalation: Greater rules broken while evading. Follows the more severe path.
Without Escalation Path
Punish remaining duration → IP punish remaining duration → IP punish both for max duration of path → repeat
With Escalation Path
Punish ALT for greater offense → IP punish ALT → IP punish both for max duration of greater path → repeat
ALT Limits
Most gamemodes allow a maximum of 10 accounts per realm (1 main + 9 alts). Alts are typically used to AFK mob grinders or cactus farms (they load chunks so income sources keep running). Festival and other special events may have different limits, announced with the event.
Minor Violations
Minor Violations are more annoyance than threat.
Examples
* Enforced by chat filter
Detailed info on Minor Violations
Spam
Posting repeat messages. Includes chat flood (splitting a sentence across many messages), character drag (adding extra characters), keyboard smash, encouraging spam (countdowns, "type F to win"), command spam (msg, helpop, report, tpa, duel, show, me, afk, party name changes, pay), and begging for free items, mana, keys, or ranks. Also excessive shop/auction advertising. Group Spam is under Special Cases; Spam Bots under Malicious Violations.
Trolling (Chat)
Leading players or staff on with falsehoods (e.g. "press Alt+F4", fake broadcasts via color codes). Harmful or harassing trolling follows a harsher path.
Custom Fonts
Not allowed as your main font in public chat. They're hard to read and suggest a hacked client.
Excessive Foreign Language
Non-English is allowed, but lengthy non-English discussions belong in messages. All chat rules apply regardless of language.
Soft Advertising
Mentioning another server by name or IP, posting invitations to player groups in public chat, sharing player Discord invites in public chat (team Discord in team description is fine), or mentioning hacked clients.
Chat-Filter Enforced
- Excessive Swearing: only enforced in-game when the filter is broken.
- CAPsing: capitalizing 6+ words across more than two sentences.
- Nickname Formatting: names under two characters, magic font, underlines, or formatting that makes the nickname or surrounding chat hard to read.
Moderate Violations
Moderate Violations make chat hostile or uncomfortable. Most can be escalated to Major Violations (e.g. Disrespect → Harassment).
Examples
Detailed info on Moderate Violations
Disrespect (Player or Staff)
Abusive speech that insults, harasses, or bullies. Disagreement is allowed; disrespect is not. Repeated targeted disrespect is punished as Harassment. Attacking staff or publicly questioning their competence falls here too; file a Support Ticket instead.
Inappropriate Chat
Discussions of drugs, illegal activities, suicide/self-harm, breaking server rules, sexual activities, infamous predators, or partial links to porn sites. Political/religious/contentious discussions are conditionally allowed but must end when staff request. Lengthy contentious discussions should move off ManaCube.
Physical Trolling
Using grappling hooks, fishing rods, trap doors, minecarts, etc. to interfere with mining, PvP, plot navigation, parkour, or to harass.
Staff Interference
Behavior that makes moderating difficult: accusing others of cheating, calling out staff in vanish, interfering with events (Parkour & Seek), disruptive mini-modding. Joking about cheating is punished as "Claiming To Cheat". Use /report for players and /helpop for staff questions; create a Support Ticket if in-game staff can't help.
Impersonation
Pretending to be another player, staff, or console. Names or nicknames changed to break other rules get harsher punishments (e.g. impersonating to bully = Harassment).
Rude Builds
Offensive, inappropriate, or sexual builds. Detailed "porn scenes" get banned without warning. Graphic or disturbing builds receive harsher punishments at staff discretion.
Major Violations
Major Violations are disruptive, divisive, and violate community standards. Warnings aren't always given.
Examples
Detailed info on Major Violations
Hate Speech
Abusive or threatening behavior toward a group (race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.). No warnings; punishments escalate quickly. Hate speech anywhere that can't be muted (builds, signs, symbols) results in a ban.
Flame Wars
When respectful discussions turn into personal attacks. Move long contentious conversations to DMs, group chats, or other platforms.
Inflammatory Statements
Exaggerated, emotional, extreme statements that provoke angry reactions.
Disrupting Chat
Arguing or protesting staff decisions in chat. File appeals at forums.manacube.com/forums/ban-appeals, not in chat, not over Discord, not in-game.
Harassment
Malicious, abusive, or harmful talk about players or staff. Includes indirect attacks where "everyone knows" the target, ongoing bickering, and bullying vulnerable players. Both parties in ongoing drama go on the accelerated PPPP path; staff don't care who started it.
Border Claiming
Applies to Survival, Earth, and Factions. Don't claim land to block another party's expansion. On Earth, outposts and claims must be 5 claims away from another town. Outposts may only siege and are removed after 48 hours of inactivity.
The PPPP
An accelerated path for ongoing bickering, bullying, drama, and harassment. Reserved for the most disruptive conflicts.
It usually means two (or more) players can't say anything to or about each other: in public chat, private chat, friend messages, shouts, or any ManaCube channel. At Admin discretion, evidence may include player Discord servers with mainly ManaCube players, social media, and any platform causing drama on ManaCube.
Mute or ban depending on severity, context, content, frequency, and whether they initiate or drag out drama.
Particularly Toxic Players
Players who join just to cause trouble, generally new, unranked accounts that discuss sex with children, flood chat with hate speech, repeatedly make offensive statements, ignore warnings, advertise, and disrupt chat.
Offenses
Mute or ban depending on severity, context, and content. Anything muting can't prevent requires a ban.
Detailed info on PTP Violations
Toxicity
Joining ManaCube to spread toxicity warrants harsh punishment.
Hard Advertising
Posting another server's website or IP to steal players, typically by new players with no ManaCube ties. Advertising a competitor with a store is Malicious Advertising regardless of how established the player is.
Malicious Violations
Malicious Violations are intended to threaten, trigger, or intimidate.
Examples
Detailed info on Malicious Violations
Malicious Ads
Posting a competitor's website or IP to steal players or recruit staff. May result in blacklisting. Also includes invites to competitors' Discord servers and discussing or recommending illegal mods.
Claiming to Evade
Admitting to evading but refusing to name the original account. Admissions in public chat, private messages, and (with Admin approval) Discord DMs all count.
Malicious Statements
Encouraging suicide, threatening or wishing violence or death, linking IRL violence, or releasing someone's personal info without consent (public info doesn't grant the right to share it here). These are graphic, explicit, vile statements that make the community unsafe.
Misconduct
Inappropriate Relationships, Predatory Behavior, and Soliciting/Distributing Porn.
- Soliciting/Distributing Porn: sharing sexually explicit images regardless of age, or any links leading to them (clickable links are punishable even without "https://").
- Inappropriate Relationships: romantic/sexual relationships between an adult and a child. Age of Majority is 18; Age of Consent is 16. An 18-year-old may have a relationship with a 16- or 17-year-old without breaking law or ManaCube rules. Staff don't get involved in player/staff dating unless there's suspicion of predatory behavior.
- Predatory Behavior: any attempt to sexually abuse or exploit others: grooming, pushing sexual boundaries, sextortion (threats to post intimate images unless given more photos or payment), etc.
Spam Bots
Multiple accounts joining simultaneously to flood chat.
Malicious Abuse
Using something to intentionally gain a major unfair advantage, damage the economy, crash the server, or substantially impact gameplay (dupes, crash exploits).
Violating ToS
Anything against manacube.com/tos not covered elsewhere: DDoSing, DOXing, SWATing, stealing credentials, malware links, IP grabbers, real-world trading. Includes threats, attempts, or claims to do these.
Illicit Behavior
Using ManaCube to seek inappropriate relationships with children, sexually harass players, solicit or distribute porn, post or threaten revenge porn, or for sextortion, grooming, and other predatory behavior is not allowed.
Report Misconduct via Support Ticket under "Report Predatory Behavior".
Offenses
Detailed info on Misconduct
Sexual Harassment
Targeted inappropriate or uncomfortable sexual remarks. Examples:
- Rating others by attractiveness or sexual activity
- Unwelcome sexual comments, jokes, or innuendo
- Unwelcome advances or requests for sexual favors
- Comments about minors becoming "legal"
Retaliation
Pressuring victims or reporters to drop complaints (intimidation, coercion). Also harassing those accused of misconduct.
Public Misconduct Allegations
Public accusations of sexual misconduct (calling someone "pedo" or "groomer", accusing staff of protecting them). Triggering to survivors and harmful to the community. Report concerns via the Predatory Behavior Support Ticket.
Moderate Cheating
Covers illegal macros, autoclickers (non-PvP), keybinds, scripts, illegal teaming, boosting, alt abuse, moderate hacks, and moderate abuse. Staff aren't expected to distinguish between hack, script, macro, or keybind; punishment depends on the advantage gained, not the method.
Examples
Detailed info on Moderate Cheating
Illegal Macros & Scripts
Automating tasks while AFK. Includes external methods (taped-down mouse, weight on a button). Auto-sending chat while AFK isn't allowed. If staff suspect macros and can't get your attention, you'll be punished as AFK. Public Auto-McMMO farms must have signage warning users; AFK users will be punished.
Rebinding a command or message to a key isn't a macro as long as you manually press it. Automating presses is.
Illegal Teaming
Two or more players cooperating for an unfair advantage. Not allowed in KOTH, LMS, or similar reward events.
Boosting
Gaining unfair advantage from outside accounts. Reviewed case-by-case. Categorized as Leaderboard Boosting, Stat Boosting, or Alt Abuse.
Transferring Teams
Allowed, but inform staff before switching so boosting rules aren't broken.
- You may take items physically tied to your account: chunk-hoppers, sell-chests, souls, mana, SVAs. Admins may reset minion progress case-by-case.
- Transferring to a leaderboard-competing team usually wipes your money. Transferring to a non-competing team may keep currencies but the new team is typically banned from leaderboards 3 months to the rest of the season.
- You may not take spawners (they provide near-instant advantage). Doesn't matter who paid for or placed them.
Earth Specifics
Manual farms can be shared within a nation (not with allies). Using another town's autofarms or automated spawner systems = boosting, unless they're public farms accessible to all.
Types of Boosting
- Stat Boosting: killing alts or players to inflate kills, creating alt plots/islands/teams for bonuses, sharing accounts for leaderboards.
- Leaderboard Boosting: using outside help (others' builds, islands, resources) to win prizes (season rewards, SVAs, cubits, etc.). Public farms accessible to everyone aren't "outside resources"; if special permission, TP, or invitation is needed, they are.
- Alt Abuse: using alts or friends' accounts to exploit the game. Only one account may gain progression at a time; other accounts may only chunk-load (no XP, no McMMO). Examples: alts in events (ManaFairy, KOTH, LPS), kill-boosting, bypassing minion/plot/party limits, claiming extra boss rewards, bypassing daily limits (e.g.
/cow), multi-spotting a leaderboard. "Renting" alts (running them yourself) = IRL Deals. Using alts to gain simultaneously = Alt Abuse.
Festival Abuse
Teaming in FFA Festival events, claiming the same reward multiple times, or bypassing daily/activity limits via alts. Alts are allowed during Festival but can't multi-claim rewards or currencies within time limits. Same path as moderate cheating but punished with a local festival ban.
Moderate Hacks
Hacks with little or no competitive advantage on the realm: Xray, derp, boat, Jesus, etc. Severity varies by realm and advantage: X-ray = Moderate on Survival (finding ores) but Malicious on Factions (finding bases).
Moderate Abuse
Exploit abuse with slight advantage and little impact on leaderboards, economy, or rewards.
Major Cheating
Covers Major Hacks and dishonestly taking money, items, labor, or anything of value from other players. Cheating methods evolve constantly, so these rules can't list every variant.
Examples
Severe first offenses may go straight to 1y or permanent.
Detailed info on Major Cheating
Griefing
Intentional destruction or alteration of another player's property without consent. On Earth, looting a ruined town is limited to valuable blocks (ores, beacons, spawners), crops, and containers. Don't destroy terrain: no draining, flooding with lava or water, cobble monsters, random block placement, deforestation by fire, or large unclaimed holes.
Stealing
Includes theft, insiding, scamming, and AH scamming.
- Theft: taking blocks, spawners, beacons, or valuables from another player's island or base without consent. Staff don't roll back theft. Adding someone to your team just to kick and keep their items is theft.
Removing Players from Groups & Private Signs
- Removed players (party/island/plot) get 14 days to collect items; notify them via
/mail. - After 14 days, the party may remove items. Staff can unlock locked chests and return items to the original owner.
- After 30 days of inactivity, staff may clear locked chests and return high-value items to the owner. Items in the wild aren't returned.
- High-Value: Cubit Store Items, ManaItems, SVAs, Spawners, Crates.
On Earth: abusing siege zones (via keep-inventory) to steal from other players = theft. Players removed from towns must get /mail notice and time to move items. After 7 days with no response, items may be taken and plots cleared.
- Insiding (Lifesteal only): stealing from your faction or TPing enemies into your base. Enemies who TP'd in may also be punished for stealing.
- Scamming: not allowed on most servers (exceptions: KitPvP, Lifesteal). Includes misnaming items for higher prices, or refusing to pay after a negotiated trade.
/id; recovery isn't guaranteed (we won't duplicate valuables by spawning replacements).Games & Giveaways
- Prizes must exist and be provable to staff on request.
- Rigging = scamming.
- Don't claim your giveaway is "official"; only admins post official giveaways in public announcements.
Loans
Not recommended and not generally enforced; use the server's secure transaction methods. Staff may get involved if the loan is worth over 5 cubits and the lender has proof of the repayment agreement. Repeated or intentional defaults are punishable.
We don't enforce interest, profits, or extras. If you loaned 20 cubits on a 25-cubit agreement, only the 20 is enforced. Use collateral worth at least the loan value; if borrower defaults, they forfeit the collateral. Collateral is returned on repayment.
Illegal PvP
Tricking players into areas without keep-inventory to take their items: TPing them into PvP zones without warning, luring them into /tpa requests, etc. Baiting (convincing players to consciously enter known PvP areas) is allowed in well-marked PvP areas. TP-killing and luring are only allowed on KitPvP and Factions.
Abusing or lying about server features to make players think items are protected is punishable if it causes significant losses.
Spawn Killing (Earth)
- No spawn killing at any time. Give the player time to leave the spawn area.
- Only allowed when spawn is close (~3 chunks from a siege zone edge) and the target is a participating military-ranked player.
Toggling PvP in Claims (Earth)
You can ask anyone on your property to leave. If they were there with permission, before toggling PvP you must give 2 warnings at least 30 seconds apart, wait 2 minutes after warnings for them to leave, and ensure they aren't AFK. Personal PvP arenas need clear signs warning PvP is enabled.
Traps (Earth)
Traps within claims meant to harm or kill aren't allowed. Includes town spawns without safe entry/exit, large unsecured holes used to trap and kill, and holding players in combat inside claims so they can't leave.
Major Abuse
Exploit abuse that gives significant advantage and impacts leaderboards, economy, or rewards but isn't game-breaking. If staff determine it was malicious, a perm ban will be issued.
Malicious Cheating
Covers methods that generate items or money faster or easier than normal, mostly hacked clients or equivalent. Macros, scripts, or bug uses that match common hacks are punished as hacks.
Examples
Detailed info on Malicious Cheating
Malicious Hacking
Cheats giving an in-game advantage. PvP examples: kill-aura, anti-knockback, auto-armor. Other gamemodes: mob aura, no-fall. Faking hacks (trying to "prove" you cheat to troll or trick) is punished as hacking. Hacked-client ads from a client's spam feature = Hacked Client ban. Vanilla Minecraft mechanics that match hacked-client benefits are also punished as hacks.
Special Cases
Violations that don't fit elsewhere or have multiple possible paths.
Examples
Detailed info on Special Cases
AH Abuse
Renaming items to advertise player warps or events on the auction house.
Causing Lag
Builds that lag nearby players unacceptably (staff judgment). Builds that lag the entire realm may be punished as crash plots. Report unintentional lag builds to staff to avoid punishment.
Falsifying Evidence
Framing someone for breaking rules. Punished at the level of the framed offense (e.g. faking Hate Speech evidence = Hate Speech punishment).
Group Spam
Multiple players coordinating to flood chat with similar messages, or spamming about the same topic for a short period.
Helpop/Report Abuse
Helpop/Report Abuse is the misuse of /helpop or /report for any purpose beyond seeking legitimate staff assistance or reporting genuine rule violations. Examples include using these channels to insult or harass staff, send social messages, express unsolicited opinions, or spam requests. Staff retain full discretion in determining when punishment is warranted. Misuse of equivalent help channels in the Community Discord is treated as a Minor infraction.
Inappropriate IGNs
Names that violate chat rules.
Inappropriate Skins
Skins that violate our content rules (Nazi/Hitler skins, nude skins, suicide bombers, etc.). Set to a network default until the player complies.
