CryptPad is an encrypted office suite that runs in your browser: documents, spreadsheets, slides, whiteboards, forms, kanban, calendar and an encrypted drive. Everything is encrypted on your device before it reaches the server, so the server stores your work but cannot read it.
Use it free on CryptPad.fr, self-host it, or run it across your organization.

CryptPad is developed by XWiki, an independent open-source company. The project is sustained through subscriptions, research projects, and community support.
It's real, and it's used worldwide

What is CryptPad

An end-to-end encrypted, European open-source office suite that runs in your browser. Everything is encrypted before it leaves your device, so the server, and whoever runs it, never sees your content. We can store your work. We can't read it.

CryptPad should be funded by the people who use it.
We believe software should be private by default for everyone, not as a premium feature, and that the tools you collaborate with should be free software, open to audit and impossible to quietly turn against you.
CryptPad is built by a team of 9 at XWiki SAS, an independent open-source company that has shipped open source for over 20 years. We take on Big Tech with a budget of around 600,000 euros a year. They have more than that before lunch.
We're getting there. In 2025 subscriptions grew 60% and donations grew 80%, and about half our revenue is now something we can count on year to year. More than 2,500 people support us. To become sustainable, we need to quadruple subscriptions and donations over the next 2 to 3 years.
We publish our full budget every year, and every euro is visible here on Open Collective.

Meet the team
CryptPad is developed by a small team at XWiki SAS, an independent open-source company based in France and Romania.
The core CryptPad team is made up of 9 people and led by David Benqué, our project lead and lead designer. Yann leads the development work, alongside developers Daria and Diana. Fabrice focuses on cryptography research, including post-quantum encryption. 
CryptPad also benefits from the wider XWiki SAS team, including support from other departments and from our CEO, Ludovic Dubost.
XWiki SAS has been building open-source collaboration and knowledge management software for more than 20 years. CryptPad is part of that same long-term commitment: Creating tools that respect users, protect data, and remain open by design.
