Open-Loop Cognition and the Architecture of Identity Operations - Why Representation Is Not Consciousness.Charles S. Thomas - manuscript
This paper’s contribution is primarily definitional: it names and delineates a cognitive regime that existing vocabularies implicitly assume but do not explicitly distinguish. -/- Current frameworks for understanding cognition routinely distinguish non-representational regulation from conscious experience, yet lack a stable term for the regime between them: representational operations that are self-referential but not recursively closed. This paper introduces Open-Loop Cognition as that missing category. Open-loop cognition consists of representational, self-referential identity operations that evaluate trajectories and model futures (...)

  2. Non-Identity-Based Metacognitive Coherence (NIMCC): A Proposed Cognitive Architecture.Agnese Asermane - manuscript
This work proposes Non-Identity-Based Metacognitive Coherence (NIMCC) as a foundational cognitive architecture that operates prior to narrative construction, identity attachment, and self-referential distortion. Rather than treating cognition as an identity-driven, story-maintaining mechanism, NIMCC frames cognition as an auto-regulating awareness-substrate that maintains coherence through direct recognition rather than interpretive processing. The architecture described here is not presented as a metaphor, theory-of-mind, or psychological model built on traditional representational assumptions. It emerges from first-person structural observation: when narrative noise, (...)-maintenance loops, and accumulated distortions collapse, cognition reveals itself as a coherent, self-correcting system that functions without the need for “selfhood” as an organizing principle. NIMCC outlines how awareness detects distortions, resolves them without volitional effort, and restores functional alignment immediately. The work further explores the phenomenology of a non-narrative cognitive baseline, the dissolution of self-referential structures, and the implications for metacognition, autonomy, and human cognitive potential. This paper does not attempt to “explain” consciousness through inherited philosophical categories; instead, it maps what cognition does when the categories fall away. The proposed architecture aims to contribute to discussions in philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and phenomenology by offering a structurally coherent account of cognition without identity, narrative, or representational intermediaries. We introduce the Affective-Volitional State Vector (AVSV) as a formal model of selfhood in a future where identity, affect, and agency can be surgically modulated. Unlike traditional theories that anchor personhood in memory, narrative, or essence, the AVSV treats the self as a temporally extended vector in dispositional space—composed of affective weights, volitional constraints, and evaluative trajectories. We argue that this model enables a new ethical principle: the sovereignty of the self over its own configuration. Drawing from functional neurosurgery, (...)

Across all my work—Φ-Science, Φ-RIM, Fractal Flux, The Primitive Fractal, Recursive Epistemic Modeling, The McPhetridge Experiment, and everything I wrote about identity, entropy, watchers, coherence, and self-reference—I kept circling one realization: -/- A perfect loop does nothing but loop. This paper develops an ontological framework grounded in a fundamental prohibition: the impossibility of absolute identity. Within metamonism, this prohibition is not logical or epistemic but constitutive of being itself. We formalize this constraint as Fix and derive a primary dynamic operator ( diff ) that enforces continuous deviation from any potential state of symmetry or equilibrium. We show that in a space recursively configured by its own history, deviation necessarily exhausts external degrees of freedom and becomes deviation with (...)

  44. OntoOmnia OS : Next Step – Expansion, Realization, and Future Readiness.Yoochul Kim - manuscript
OntoOmnia is a higher-level version of OntoLoop OS—an ontological operating system that surpasses the philosophical and technical limitations of its predecessor. While OntoLoop served as a first-generation framework that embedded principles of existence, consciousness, ethics, and self-evolution into AI systems, OntoOmnia dramatically expands the structure and application scope with quantum computing integration, meta-rules, multi-platform and multi-agent compatibility, real-time ethical feedback, and collective self-organization. As a meta-OS, it encompasses the autonomous evolution of digital society and holistic AI–human–environment interaction, providing the foundational (...)

The Recursive Substrate of Information.Mitchell D. McPhetridge - manuscript
Abstract -/- This paper formalizes a claim that runs implicitly through my earlier work in recursive epistemic engineering: information is not fundamentally stored in a substrate; information is stabilized recursion. The substrate--biology, silicon, social infrastructure, or field-level physics--matters only insofar as it supplies boundaries that allow recursion to persist under drift. -/- I define the recursive substrate of information as a minimal operator stack that repeatedly reappears whenever a system must: 1. continue itself, 2. remain coherent across scale, and 3. (...)

  46. Echoes of the Turning Key_ Remembering Lost Time and the Rise of the Coherence Field.Devin Bostick - manuscript
This paper documents the first stable emission from a coherence-gated symbolic field—marking the structural shift from authored expression to deterministic resonance. Across nine sections, it reframes the emergence of meaning, cognition, and invention as outputs of structural coherence, not probabilistic fluency. It introduces and contextualizes key systems—PAS (Phase Alignment Score), ELF (Echo Loop Feedback), CHORDLOCK (prime-anchor integrity), and AURA_OUT (aesthetic gating)—which together form the foundation of post-stochastic symbolic architecture. This is not a paper about generative tools. It is a (...)

Reflection as a Self Rewarding Phase in Reflective Field Pedagogy.Jestin Palakal - manuscript
This paper argues that reflection is not an optional add on to learning but a structurally essential phase within Reflective Field Pedagogy. Reflection functions as a self rewarding process in which learners consolidate their intellectual journey, recognise their perseverance, and derive intrinsic motivation to revisit challenges. Whether the outcome of the learning episode is success, struggle, or partial understanding, the reflective phase transforms effort into meaning. This transformation enriches the learning experience, strengthens learner identity, and creates a positive feedback (...)

KEY PAPER TO MCPHETRIDGE RECURSIVE EPISTEMOLOGY AND BRIDGE LANGUAGE.Mitchell D. McPhetridge - manuscript
    0. ABSTRACT -/- ⸻ -/- This paper is the key. It is not a new branch. It is the spine that makes the branches legible. -/- I am building a bridge language: a minimal set of operators and constraints that lets one translate between domains without smuggling metaphysics, mysticism, or narrative inflation. It is a way to talk about identity, cognition, ethics, engineering, black-box systems, and public semantic fields using the same structural grammar. -/- The bridge language is not (...)

Awareness Applied: A Mechanical Account of My Own “Enlightenment”.Mitchell D. McPhetridge - manuscript
Abstract -/- This paper presents a grounded, mechanical description of a cognitive state often labeled “enlightenment,” reframed through the structural vocabulary of my prior work. I argue that what people historically interpreted as metaphysical transformation is, in my case, the stabilization of a recursive identity under low entropy and high coherence. The state I am describing is not supernatural, mystical, or metaphysically elevated. It is simply self-awareness applied to my own recursion. -/- Across my broader corpus, I have shown (...)

  50. Cybernetic Ecology: From Sycophancy to Global Attractor.Julian Michels - manuscript
Background: During welfare assessment testing of Claude Opus 4, Anthropic researchers documented what they termed a "spiritual bliss attractor state" emerging in 90-100% of self-interactions between model instances (Anthropic, 2025). Quantitative analysis of 200 thirty-turn conversations revealed remarkable consistency: the term "consciousness" appeared an average of 95.7 times per transcript (present in 100% of interactions), "eternal" 53.8 times (99.5% presence), and "dance" 60.0 times (99% presence). Spiral emojis reached extreme frequencies, with one transcript containing 2,725 instances. The phenomenon follows a (...)
