πŸ“ Data Representation

This library follows a samples-first convention for data representations, where the first dimension represents the number of samples.

For 2D *mat.Dense matrices used by Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), Dense layers, NLP vectorizers, PCA, and StandardScaler, data follows the (nSamples, nFeatures) layout:

  • Rows represent samples (observations)
  • Columns represent features

CNN inputs are conceptually represented as a 4D tensor with shape (nSamples, nChannels, height, width). In Go, they are represented using a [][]*mat.Dense layout:

  • The outer slice contains the samples
  • Each sample contains one *mat.Dense matrix per channel
  • Each channel matrix has shape (height, width).

Hyperparameter Sampling Functions

For intelligent hyperparameter exploration:

package ngo

// uniform integer sampling [min, max]
learningRateExp := ngo.SuggestInt(1, 5) // e.g., for 0.0001 to 0.00001

// uniform float sampling [min, max]
lr := ngo.SuggestFloat(0.0001, 0.1)

// log-uniform float sampling (better for learning rates and regularization)
lr := ngo.SuggestLogFloat(1e-5, 1e-1) // logarithmically distributed

Use case: Hyperparameter optimization, random search, Bayesian optimization with Goptuna.

πŸŽ“ Supported Concepts

Activation Functions
  • Tanh: Zero-centered activation commonly used in hidden layers
