Shock was a basic Magic ability available before the Combat Style Modernisation update in 2026, that was unlocked from the Scare Tactics book. It required level 10 Magic to use. It stunned and knocked back the target, as well as dealing 65-75% ability damage.

The stun from Shock was not long enough to gain the effect from Wrack, as the stun only lasted for 1.2 seconds and abilities might only be activated every 1.8 seconds.

Compared to its melee counterpart, Kick, it did not require being in melee distance and can attack from a distance. The 1 square knockback and stun only be happened if the attack successfully hit and the enemy was 1x1 square size.

The threshold version of this ability was Horror.

This ability shared its cooldown timer with other basic stuns (Backhand, Kick, Binding Shot, Demoralise, and Impact).

Despite being a free-to-play item, Scare Tactics could only be obtained by members. Free players could only obtain it by trading. Therefore, unlike the melee variants, Shock, Horror, Demoralise, and Rout were impossible to unlock in free-to-play Ironman Mode.
