The Australian government passed the 2026 Combating Anti-Semitism, Hate and Extremism, (Criminal and Migration) Laws with LNP support. The laws enable a politicized administrative process to declare “prohibited hate groups,” with no judicial review, and make it an offense to be an officer, director, member, recruiter, trainer, fundraiser, or supporter of such groups, carrying up to 10 years’ imprisonment (up to 15 in certain cases). A 2025 UN Commission of Inquiry found Israel committed genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes in Gaza. Includes speech by Chris Sidoti one of the judges on the commission of inquiry. However six Palestinian civil society groups were labeled terrorist, one unlawful.
