OpenSnitch is a GNU/Linux port of the Little Snitch firewall. You can launch the GUI from the icon or from the system menu. The daemon will start intercepting connections, prompting you to allow or deny them. If you don't apply an action, after 15 seconds (configurable) it'll apply the default action configured. When you open the GUI, you'll see all the connections and processes that the daemon has intercepted. Double click on a row to view the details of a process, rule, host or user. Once you know which are the common processes, IPs and hosts that your machine is connecting to, you can start creating permanent rules (Duration: always) to deny or allow them. You can also convert temporary rules to permanent by right-clicking on a temporary rule or by double-clicking on it, and then edit it. By default OpenSnitch UI listens on a local Unix socket in /tmp/osui.sock. -

You can use the shell-command subcommand to execute shell commands in response to events. watchmedo can read tricks.yaml files and execute tricks within them in response to file system events. Tricks are actually event handlers that subclass watchdog.tricks.Trick and are written by plugin authors. Trick classes are augmented with a few additional features that regular event handlers don't need. The directory containing the tricks.yaml file will be monitored. howmanypeoplearearound calculates the number of people in the vicinity using the approximate number of smartphones as a proxy (since ~70% of people have smartphones nowadays). A cellphone is determined to be in proximity to the computer based on sniffing WiFi probe requests. Possible uses of howmanypeoplearearound include, monitoring foot traffic in your house with Raspberry Pis, seeing if your roommates are home, etc. There are a number of possible USB WiFi adapters that support monitor mode. Namely you want to find a USB adapter with one of the following chipsets: Atheros AR9271, Ralink RT3070, Ralink RT3572, or Ralink RT5572. You will be prompted for the WiFi adapter to use for scanning. Make sure to use an adapter that supports "monitor" mode. You can modify the scan time, designate the adapter, or modify the output using some command-line options. -

All it takes is 10-20 lines of code to get started with training a GNN model (see the next section for a quick tour).
