Thanks for your answer.
qwt is probably not the solution for my tasks, because I need to plot files
in the 3-dimensional space. This works fine in gnuplot and I really like to
stay with this tool.
Has anyone ever tried to "include" gnuplot in another software's window?
Doesn't have to be QT...
It would be helpful just to know wether it's possible or not...
Cheers

Please someone save it! It has helped me ALOT when learning gnuplot and I think than the learning curve will steepen for new users if it is not available. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Mr. Kawano for the effort put into the website! I'm sure it has helped alot of people. Hello GnuPloteers I have written a little gnuplot script that plots a 2D gray-scale image using splot. How can I get gnuplot to report the gray-scale value at a point in the image when I position the cursor at the point? Thank you! |

Hi, for those getting in panic with the prospect of the not-So-FAQ disappearing, you can save a copy for yourself (just 4.5MB): wget --mirror -E -k -K -p http://t16web.lanl.gov/Kawano/gnuplot/index-e.html Of course, it would be great if s.o. could host it (and hopefully update it as well). does your 'awk' generated file contain valid 'set' commands? where do the 'countrynames' come from? from your datafile? if so, it would be easier to use an actual version of gnuplot and plot 'with labels'. I' don't know the answer to your question but since you mentioned qt as your
framework I was wondering if you tried qwt libraries for qt? Are they
limited compared to gnuplot?

Hi everybody,
since my last question here was solved perfectly, I'm optimistic to find a
solution to this topic:
I'm currently working on a Linux application using C++ and the Qt framework.
The software uses an I/O-stream to communicate with Gnuplot and is already
able to plot a graph into a png file, which is opened by the C-code and
displayed in a QGraphicsView.
This method is simple but the possibilites are limited. So, as you probably
can guess, I'm trying to include the Gnuplot-window into my software.
I've tried the following Gnuplot command from the documentation (83.78):
set term x11 window "36003a8" ("3600.." = winID of an empty QMainWindow)
Unfortunately Gnuplot responds with:
Terminal type set to 'x11'
undefined variable: window
What do you think about my attempt - is it even possible to implement
Gnuplot into another application this way? Are there any easier
possibilities?
Thanks a lot,
Karl

Hello, I tried to compile gnuplot 4.4.4 on mac leopard (10.5), the compilation is fine. however, it will crash with the following error: [Debug] 23:22:30: ../src/common/fileconf.cpp(991): assert "szValue.empty()" failed in DoWriteString(): can't set value of a group! It looks fileconf.cpp is from wxwideget. I also tried to compile in mac snow leopard (10.6). I got the following compilation error. In file included from ./plot.h:46, from wxterminal/wxt_gui.h:108, from wxterminal/wxt_gui.cpp:96: ./mouse.h:187: error: variable or field 'set_ruler' declared void ./mouse.h:187: error: '_Bool' was not declared in this scope ./mouse.h:187: error: expected primary-expression before 'int' ./mouse.h:187: error: expected primary-expression before 'int' ./mouse.h:195: error: '_Bool' has not been declared In file included from wxterminal/wxt_gui.h:108, the google search find same error one year ago. https://github.com/mxcl/homebrew/issues/561 the suggested solution in the above link is to disable wxt. Any comments? thanks. Peter |

hi list, For camparison sometimes i run different versions of gnuplot, lets say 4.0 and 4.2. When starting gnuplot display a version string. Is there a way to get this information inside a session. I tried 'help version' but that is the same for every version. re, wh |

Hi all, Can I define multiple ranges for the fit function? That is, if my xrange is [1:100] and I want to fit [1:10] and [20:100] but exclude [10:20]. Thanks Miguel |

I agree that would work. However, my data file happens to also have several data sets in it (i.e. blocks of data separated by two blank lines), and I would like to retain that information. Personally I don't quite understand why plotting with boxes should yield discontinuities when crossing a gap in the data. Isn't this kinda lika bug of sorts? Hi, I'm trying to plot a columnstacked histogram with 15 entries. While the postscript or the png terminal automatically use a unique color for every entry, the epslatex terminal just relies on the default linetypes which means that entry number 10 will have the same red color as no 1, 11 will be green like no 2 and so on. How can I manipulate the color palette for epslatex or the linetype colors? -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/epslatex%3A-color-cycling-with-columnstacked-histogram-tp32877069p32877069.html Sent from the Gnuplot - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Dear All, I am using GNUPlot version 4.2. I had created a rowstacked, cluster histogram chart. Refer (Uploaded in MediaFire File Sharing site) - http://tinyurl.com/8398m68 Having hard time to get errorbar included in the histogram. 1. Code - sk_share.pg Refer - http://codeupload.com/4668 2. Dataset - sk_share.dat Refer - http://codeupload.com/4669 The dataset is arranged the below format Cluster x <Direction 1> <y1> <y2> <y3> <err_y1> <err_y2> <err_y3> <Direction 2> <y1> <y2> <y3> <err_y1> <err_y2> <err_y3> Do anyone know what is the way to get y-errorbar on the histogram? It does not seem to be straightforward. Hope you can help. rgds Saravanan K svanan77[at]gmail.com p/s Resending as the earlier msg seems not got through |

Hi, I used the following simple gnuplot script written below : set terminal postscript enhanced color 'Helvetica' 20 p(x,y,n1,n2) = log10((x**n1) * (abs(y)**n2)) + log10(x) q(x,y,n1,n2) = log10((x**n1) * x * (abs(y)**n2)) set output 'plot499.ps' plot 'tsorted499diffVsB.dat' u (p(499,$1,3,0.66)):(p(499,$5,2,1)) every ::27::44 w p ls 1 t 'N=499(add)', 'tsorted499diffVsB.dat' u (q(499,$1,3,0.66)):(q(499,$5,2,1)) every ::27::44 w p ls 2 t 'N=499(multiply)' set terminal x11 Note that the functions p and q are the same function using the idea that log(product of two numbers) = sum of log of the two numbers, but the plot command does not result in overlapping plots. I have attached the data file 'tsorted499diffVsB.dat' and the output file 'plot499.ps' here. Any help/clue as to what might be happening here will be appreciated. Anirban |
