
PAS 1 [RCA Astro]
PAS 1 (PanAmSat 1) was the first, privately owened, international telecommunication satellite.
The satellite was built on the RCA Astro AS-3000 bus and featured a payload consisting of 12 C-band and 6 Ku-band transponders. It was originally built for Contel as ASC 3, but purchased before launch.
After launch on the first Ariane-44LP H10, it was located at 45� West longitude, serving the Americas market. It was decommissioned in 2001 and sent to a graveyard orbit.
