Akolisa (Ako) Ufodike

Dr. Ako Ufodike is an Associate Professor in the School of Administrative Studies at York University, where he also holds a joint appointment in the Graduate Program in Public Policy, Administration, and Law. His research focuses on ethics, accountability (both political and financial), public sector finance, equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), and civic engagement.

Dr. Ufodike holds a BComm from Laurentian University, an MBA from the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, and a PhD from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. He is a Canadian FCPA, a U.S. CPA, a U.K. FCCA, a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and a Certified Director (ICD.D) through the Institute of Corporate Directors.

He received the Established Leader Award from the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) in 2024. He was also awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2022 and the King Charles III Coronation Medal in 2025. In 2022, Dr. Ufodike made history as the first Black Canadian to serve as a Deputy Minister in Alberta.
