IRU Women Driving Change

by IRU

The IRU Women Driving Change project emphasises the need for inclusive practices such as targeted recruitment, enhanced training for technical and leadership roles, and policies supporting work-life balance. It also highlights improving health and safety standards to create a more supportive environment for women.

The project aims to foster actionable, cost-effective solutions for companies, helping increase women's participation and retention in the sector, which is crucial for addressing the driver shortage as transport demand grows. The IRU Women Driving Change project is designed to engage women and employers worldwide, across all levels and roles within the road transport sector.

Building on the success of the New Industry Shapers Project, the Women Driving Change Ideas Lab focuses on key issues pertinent to the road transport industry. It seeks out both current and emerging industry leaders to share their insights and experiences. The Ideas Lab's primary goal is to identify the challenges women face in the industry and to collaboratively seek solutions that enhance gender equality.

By facilitating discussions on best practices, the Ideas Lab has provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange effective strategies aimed at attracting and retaining more women in the industry. These conversations have not only highlighted the importance of gender diversity but have also established a global community of women in road transport. This community, connected through shared passion and empowerment, underscores the necessity of increasing female participation in our workforce and explores actionable ways to achieve this goal.
