Minecraft.net is the website for the popular Mojang game, Minecraft.
Assets server
The Minecraft assets server (assets.minecraft.net) hosts versions of Minecraft ranging from 1.8pre1 to 1.5.2. Due to the new launcher used within recent snapshots downloading everything from a different server, the assets server hasn't seen a new snapshot get uploaded to it since March 19, 2013. An archive can be downloaded below.

Notable Servers
This section covers notable Minecraft servers that may be at risk due to policy changes, legal pressure, or other factors.
- 2b2t (https://2b2t.org/[IA•Wcite•.today]) is the oldest anarchy server in Minecraft, running since December 2010. It contains over 80TB of world data and is currently at risk due to Mojang's technical and policy changes (such as Chat Reporting and EULA enforcement).
- World Data: Community projects have archived significant portions of the map, reaching milestones of 1 Million² blocks archived.[1]
- Archivable Content:
- Subreddits: r/2b2t contains years of community discussions, base coordinates, drama, and historical documentation.
- Chat Logs: Various community members run logging bots that have recorded nearly every public chat message for years. These text-based logs are relatively easy to archive.
- Wikis: 2b2t Wiki and other community wikis document server history, factions, bases, and notable players.
- Status: Server is online but future is uncertain. Cultural dispersion following a shutdown would make retroactive archiving nearly impossible.
- MinecraftOnline (https://minecraftonline.com/[IA•Wcite•.today]) is widely regarded as the oldest Minecraft server, home to the world of Freedonia. The map has been continuously online since August 4, 2010 the day SMP was released and has never been restored or regenerated. It has been explored and built in by over 300,000 unique players, with the world growing to over 44km in diameter. Despite its historical significance, the server has suffered from notable performance issues and poor owner communication, as covered by YouTuber SalC1 in his video Minecraft's Oldest Server is in Trouble.
- Archivable Content:
- World Data: The Freedonia map represents over 15 years of uninterrupted player-built history and would be an irreplaceable loss if the server shut down.
- Wiki: The MinecraftOnline Wiki documents server history, towns, buildings, commands, and player-submitted guides.
- Status: Server is currently online but aging infrastructure and poor performance raise long-term sustainability concerns.
