Ivor Caplin is a former Labour MP for Hove. After the 2001 election he joined the government payroll as an assistant whip and was appointed junior Defence Minister under Tony Blair during the invasion of Iraq in June 2003. Caplin kept his ministerial position until April 2005.[1]

He is a key member of the Israel lobby, former chair of the Jewish Labour Movement (2018 to 2019) and deputy chair of Labour Friends of Israel (1997 to 2005).

In January 2025, Ivor Caplin was arrested at Hove Station on suspicion of engaging in online sexual communications with a child.[2]

Alleged paedophile Ivor Caplin is out on bail again -- for the fourth time -- reports B&H News.
Former Jewish Labour Movement chair and Labour Friends of Israel deputy chair, Ivor Caplin was arrested by police in January on suspicion of sexual communications with a child.
Here he is pictured at Labour conference in 2018 along with a host of Israel lobby stalwarts -- including former Momentum leader Jon Lansman and Wes Streeting.[3]

Journalist faces prison

Award-winning journalist Greg Hadfield faces up to six months in prison for exposing Labour Party hypocrisy about Ivor Caplin.[4]
