Kim Janey was the acting Mayor of Boston for eight months in 2021.
Career
She sat on the City Council. She replaced Mayor Marty Walsh who was appointed to the Biden Administration.
She opposed vaccine passports, and compared it to slavery.[1] For this stance, she was attacked by the City Council which wanted them.[2] She was also criticised by the Boston Globe newspaper.[3]
On 20 August 2021, she enacted a mask mandate for all Boston ‘indoor public settings’.[4] On August 12, Janey announced a mandate that all municipal employees either needed to be "vaccinated" or undergo regular COVID-19 "tests".[5]
She is ran for a full term in November 2021 but came in fourth place.[6]
